Q:

Problem with Cricket mag alignment

My Cricket has been working perfectly for the last year, then all of a sudden, while I was shooting today, the magazine stopped aligning correctly. When cocking, the magazine moves about a 1/16″ less than necessary. It seems to me that the cocking lever is not moving far enough back, when cocking, to complete the mags alignment correctly. Anyone else had this problem?

I watched all of Ernest’s vids – couldn’t find anything that helped.

Thanks for any help.

that will do t, will not cock if to far in, that’s was my 1st question, I guest it will affect the mag index before it start limiting the cocking travel till it wont cock. learned something new today. Have fun shooting!

Well, I discovered what the problem was. I had the HST adjuster – got it from Imppu – adjusted all the way in. I turned it out about 3 turns and everything was fine. I’m just guessing that the adjuster caused the cocking plate’s travel to be lessened.

In any case, thanks for the help, Ernest. You’ve become a real treasure in the airgun community!

quote sniperlabyo:

2. under the mag on the action is a pin plunger under a spring tension that control the cocking tension of the mag, and over and under rotation adjustment of the mag. that plunger ride on the mag and detent. set screw for the spring adjustment in on the bottom of the action near the 2 set screw that hold the action to the air valve. I would try loosing it first.

4. when the cocking lever is close the cocking plate is pressing on the pins —> that’s how the cocking lever stay close with that tension . pin are press in the action so they do not travel. the plate have full travel only in forward motion/closing the cocking lever.

This would be a good vid… 😀

Wow! Thanks for the quick and detailed reply!

1. does it cock/sear engage ????
YES

2. adjust magazine stop index spring tension.
How would I adjust it? Would I want more or less tension?

3. you tied another magazine, when drop can bend the index slots.
YES

4. check cocking plate pin if broken
YES – the pin is OK – it seems to me that the cocking plate pins don ‘t travel to the ends of the slots, as if the plate does not have full travel. Should pins travel to end of slots?

5. check all the springs are intact.
YES

6. clean, inspect, re grease!
YES

7. mag rotation smoothly without bending???
YES

8. make sure cocking assy block retainer cap screw is tight.
NO – will in the morning.

This problem started suddenly. From one shot to the next.

Thanks again for your help.

What have you done so far in troubleshooting the problem???

1. does it cock/sear engage ????

2. adjust magazine stop index spring tension.

3. you tied another magazine, when drop can bend the index slots.

4. check cocking plate pin if broken:

5. check all the springs are intact:

6. clean, inspect, re grease!

7. mag rotation smoothly without bending???

8. make sure cocking assy block retainer cap screw is tight.

report back !
