Problems pumping beyond 1400psi with Benjamin pump

I recently purchased a Benjamin Discovery, and I noticed that it took all of my weight to pump to just 1400psi with the hand pump. I only weigh 120 pounds, but still I don’t get it. To pump the last 600 psi into the tank I needed to jump with all my weight. I am in great physical shape, but am I just too light to operate the pump? I searched the instructions, but I could not find anything about this. Is there a way to “switch into low gear on this pump? I know that some other pumps have the option to sacrifice efficiency to make things easier, can this pump do that? The pump is rated for up to 3600psi, but I don’t see how that would even be possible for anyone under 300 pounds.

No, it’ll stay at 75. They lied.

Good workout though!

I have been trying a new technique that has really been working for me, I push down full speed on the first half of the stroke and rely on that inertia to complete the stroke. I was a bit confused though because it took 75 strokes to bring my disco from 1000psi to 2000psi, not the advertised 35. Perhaps it will just require a break in period.

I resently had a air force pump that was sticking on me , the needle valve and spring and oring, it was only letting out a trickle of air, does yours let the air out fast when the tank is not on??

I have no problems at all pumping up my tanks to 3000 psi. 😳 😀

I’m 130lbs and I had the same problem you did when I got started. Just work with it, you’ll eventually learn a technique that will make it easier.

Then, you can get your buds that weigh twice what you do to try and they can barely do it, and you’ll pump away. Always fun. 😀

The trick to the pump is you have to drop all your weight on it for about the last 4 inches of the stroke.Trying to force it down will kill you.You have to use your body weight and drop down on the pump.
