Being fairly new to the forum a question? I have 1 steel, 1 aluminum scuba tanks, 1 carbonfibre paintball tank. Bought these used, only one in hydro. Any thoghts. thanks Gene

Im with Maw on this one. I had a shoebox and all i can say is if u shoot alot dont go shoebox and this is speaking from experence. I went and bought an AIRTEX 45. Best investment i made in the airgunworld. I shoot every day. I know air consumption.

Get yourself a $500 buck shoebox in 4500psi.
Its the single best AG investment I have ever made. Total freedom. I don’t even own a scuba or CF tank although I do fill my buddys tanks for him. The little shoebox can fill the 490ci AF tank from 2200 to 3000 in about 10min or about 1hr from empty, and the Eddy about the same..10min.
Hook it up, go have a cig break or get a cup of coffee, ready to go again in 10. It would be nice to have a guppy tank for all day hunting, but for the most part its great.

The only problem I ever had with it was a leak in the high pressure piston area..about 2 months after I had it. A simple oring replacement…its fixed.
It an oring based machine..if you can rip apart your AF valve..you can fix a shoebox. Go look over the schematics of this thing, its simple to work on ..I can’t live without mine. If it was broken, I would have it fixed in a few days..its that simple..its just not a problem.
Spend that left over $3000..on your guns.
Your own compressor is a great idea and by next year this time I hope to own one. I want the one that is 3450.00 to your door and then I have to learn about the maintenance cost ect. I have also thought about a large tank of Nitrogen, of renting one, air is just a pain in the ass to me, I have 1 guy who will fill for me at the firestation, and I do not like asking him all the time, I just think a compressor is the best way to go if you use alot of air or have big bores that need a 3600psi fill.
Might consider or weight the cost compared to a shoe box compressor,
I read and read when i ordered my condor( first PCP) as to what i wanted to do about air, and saw that most that bought scuba or smaller tanks, went with biggest carbon fiber eventually,, i did not want to spend the money but i saved in the end form buying scuba and then turning around and buying the bigger carbon fiber,
But you know i don’t shoot heavy pellets much and with light pellets i only fill to 1900, so i would have gotten allot of fills out of a 3300 fill in a scuba tank . 🙂
send me the steel one its no good lol get them hydroed and use them the cf might not be able to be filled by a fill shop if its past its shelf life

Depends on who will fill them. Find the highest pressure that you can fill and sell the other two tanks.
Alternatively, keep the lower thank plus you’re higher tank. Use the lower tank to fill and the high tank to top off to you’re desired pressure. It’s calld a cascade and allows your to get more fills than with one tank.
Consider a low fill pressure for pliking and target shooting to extend your tank usage.
