PS-22 POI problems
For those of you that have the ATN PS-22’s…have any of you experienced POI shift? I know this has been a problem with about 50% of the units per forum post and I guess I got a bad one.
I just received mine a couple of weeks ago and noticed at 60 yds when using the PS-22 my POI at 60yds (my daytime zero) had shifted 1″ right and 2″ low. On top of this… my IR450 cuts off everytime I fire. I called ATN and got a RMA# for the illuminator and am now thinking about returning the PS-22 also.
Do you guys have any idea how good or bad ATN’s warranty service is? What a PITA for a $2K converter.

It’s probably due to the pocus stop not being set correctly. IIRC it can be corrected using a setscrew in the focus ring.

I am using a Hawke 4.5-14 and I personally would prefer a different scope. As far as how clear your PS22 is with your setup I can’t advise if its the norm. I will say that if my memory is correct, that 6X is the max recommended for the PS22. Mine is clearer at 5X than higher magnifications but of course the better your IR the better your view.
I use 5X all the time with a laser IR for long range (in this case 100 yds +). I decided to use a rail mount on my Talom SS instead of the clamp on scope mounts. I have all the clamps adapters but liked the rail mount. I had a hell of a problem with finding the right combination of rails /bases to give me the correct setup but all is fine now.
If I was to change scopes, I think I would prefer a higher quality scope in a lower power range. I know this would be a compromise in reference to my daytime shooting but I don’t need 14 pwr really.

I have a new ps-22 that i´m trying to use with my hawke SW 30 6.5-20. I know this is not an optimum scope to attach a clip-on unit. I have some problem getting clear image at closer range … up to 50 meter. After 50 and up to 300 meter it is working good. If this is due to the scope could anyone recommend a scope that works well and has the diameter 56mm (i have a adapter ring for 62-64 mm i would like to use)

Thanks for the pictures.
I never sent my PS-22 back as I found most of the problem was due to how I was shooting. Occasionally now poi will change with me a little due to cheek or grip etc. Anyway I found later (luckily with my unit) I only have to make an elevation adjustment of 1.5 MOA only. I really didn’t want to send it in for that, but if it had windage problems I might have. I say might because with my experience (and luck for that matter) it would return the same or fucked up.

Here’s the tube removed. There’s a small glass insert in the front of the tube to correct optical distances.
It’s held in place by the 4 legged spring. These pics are further on.
The inside of the unit. Notice how just the tube housing moves. It’s a pretty tight fit in the actual housing.
3 slots in the circumference get the thread insert attached That’s how the tube focusses at various distances.

All in all the PS22 is a viable option that can be very accurate.

I tested my PS-22 again and found it to be about the same as your test on your blog. The only difference is mine is low and to the right. As a matter of fact, I got better groups using the PS-22 but the POI had shifted some 3 MOA or more. Of course I can adjust my scope but for 2K I think it should perform as advertised. I think I’ll send it back in for adjustment. I hope it doesn’t come back looking like it’s been dropped from a building.

Adjusting it isn’t very difficult. However if you bought it new. It should be good. If still in warranty return it. If not keep an eye out at;
