PSI VS POWER WHEEL on Tuned Down Condor
While tuning UPWARD from my quiet low PSI setting for my HIGH FLO Condor .177 x 12″ that I use mostly indoors the velocity dropped 88 FPS when I raised the fill pressure from 1725 to 1900 PSI.
This could be a useful exercise to find your high and/or low cutoff fill pressure for your setup with a given pellet. Of course, a chronograph is necessary. If you can borrow or use someone’s, this might be a useful test.
1st) Start with a low tank PSI maybe about 1000 PSI.
2nd) LOWER the Power Wheel to “0” ZERO.

3rd) . RECORD THE PSI & FPS for 4-5 shots. A hand pump would work well to keep raising the PSI about +100 for each set.
4th) Keep recording and watching for a noticeable drop in FPS.
Note:
Seeing I had a loss of 88 FPS, I probably over reacted and jumped the PW UP from ZERO to “2”. My next shots were +100 FPS and about +10 from the 1725 PSI tests.
So for my low power Condor setup, 1900 PSI Fill OVER POWERED my light hammer at PW = 0..
Significant results:
1725 PSI/PW, 0 = 932 FPS
1900 PSI/PW, 0 = 844 FPS or -88
1900 PSI/PW, 2 = 943 FPS or +99
1900 PSI/PW, 3 = 974 FPS or +31
1900 PSI/PW, 4 = 998 FPS or +24
I guit… Above PW 4, begins to degrade the trigger and makes cocking harder, and a .177 shooting a 7.9 grain pellet is pushing 17 FPE and making a lot more noise.

I have been also playing around with a lower fill pressure in my .22 condor, high flow tank.
Getting my very first bell curve 😀 from 2500 to 1800 psi. top hat .070 pw 2.
Good for 32 shots before poi changes at 30 yards. But gun is louder at a lower fill pressure, valve must be opening too much and waisting air.
