Q:

Purchased a new EDgun Matador R3M (.25) (pics)

I have purchased and owned alot of very nice PCP’s and some fine looking springers. But walnut stock that my new EDgun Matador (.25) came with is the prettiest piece of wood that I have ever had on an air rifle!!!! Custom stocks included! I may be just a proud new owner of an EDgun in 25 cal ( I have one in 22 cal…..single shot) and simply HAVE to show it off. But this fine airgun doesn’t stop with being just good looking (and my pics do not do it justice), it shoots the JSB Exact 25 grain pellets at 945 fps starting at a 220 BAR fill. I have not shot a full string through the chrony. But I have been doing ALOT of shooting groups at 70 yards (and a few crows). At 70 yards it shoots nickel to a quarter size groups (depending on my nerves). Mine is the Standard Matador and I never expected this kind of accuracy OR speed from an airgun this short!!! I have spent several hours watching ED’s youtube channel. He seems like a great guy with a great family and a great sense of humor. He’s also a good shot! Needless to say, I am converted. I am now EDgun obsessed. And my single shot 22 cal EDgun Matador is every bit as accurate ay 70 yards with 18.1 grain Exacts. Squirrel season starts here in TN on the fourth Saturday of August. And….needless to say….I’ll be totin’ an EDgun into the Hickory trees.

I made this pic as soon as I unboxed the Matador. Man! What a fine piece of equipment!!!!!!! Please forgive the fact that I am 52 yrs old and behaving like a little boy with a new toy. I just can’t hide the fact that I love this airgun!!! Ya know….if all Russians are like ED and his family…..then I like Russia. Anyway, thanks for looking and listening to me brag. (Can anyone tell me what the regulator in the 25 cals are factory set at??) Thank you all!!!!!!! Have a great rest of the week! kevin

the fore grip looks like a good idea for off the hand shooting

@kevinbrian
you got an exceptionally good looking gun there, congrats

Thanks for all of the feedback, friends. I have discovered another PLUS about the Matador standard: They are easy and quick to pump with a Hill generation 3 pump!!! I did have a carbon fiber tank and the filling apparatus until I sold it about a year ago. I am 52, 6’4″. 200 pounds, and have no problem getting the Matador standard’s air tube filled back to 220 BAR with a pump.
I hope that I don’t start a crap-storm with this statement, as it is my own personal feelings. I have purchased quite a few new Crickets (carbine and bullpups) and these two Matadors are decidedly (for me, at least) more accurate (from the first shot @220 BAR until the last shot (I usually refill at 140 BAR even though I shoot a few more).
I’ve never really considered myself to be a ‘fanboy’ of any brand of any thing. But……..I think that I am starting to become just that.
Again, just my 2 cents. And again, I appeciate all of your replies!!!!!! (And thank you for answering my ‘reg pressure’ question)

Woo Hoo Kevin , Tess beautiful my friend.

I have found 945 fps second to be a great speed for accuracy for the .25 matador. No need to adjust velocity down unless you wish to gain a few more shots between fills. Out of the box, even before cleaning barrel, my first two groups (after site in) consisted of a nine and a eight shot group at 90 yards. First group was 3/4โ€œ and the second group was just under 3/4โ€. POA was POI, and as a hunter you can appreciate that. Personally I think the edgun is one of the best bull pups out there and is my go to gun and probably not going to change anytime soon. Oh forgot to mention my R3M .25 came to me shooting 946 fps and havenโ€™t found a reason to adjust differently. I will admit that I have the long matador only for the shot count but if I had it to do again I think I would order the standard instead for the mere reason I like the size and handling of my .22 STD R3 better.

With all that being said I would like to have a Vulcan to compare too! Hell Iโ€™m not going to lie I wish I had one of every bullpup out there but funds will never allow that to happen. Cheers Kevin, Enjoy that bullpup she is a beauty.

That indeed is a nice stock :8:

Had a Standard .25 R3M for around a year myself and all i’ve done is tweaked the HST down to 900 fps with the 25 grain JSB Kings and it is a constant source of displeasure amongst the local crow and magpie population ๐Ÿ˜‰

I can take a 90 yarder without breaking into a sweat with this and be absolutely confident that my target will drop without a twitch. Not extreme range for some, but I am the weak link in the chain, not the Matador ๐Ÿ˜€

Enjoy that beauty Kevin and shoot the hell out of it, they do get better the more you shoot them :tag:

The Cad

Welcome aboard! They may not be the latest pup on the market but sure are one of the nicest looking ones. Now go and shoot the heck out of it.

Hi Hemn,

Congratulations, now you know what is the new Standard Matador in 0.25.
Very accurate like the new standard Matador in 0.30.
Like Gerard said :
130 bars in 0.25 (full at 220 bars)
150 bars in 0.30 (full at 250 bars)

Have a good time with your new toys,

Best regards,

Mika

really very elegant stock ,,,very nice ,,, i don’t blame you that you are behaving like a young boy ,,,you got a very nice stock,,, and rifle ….

as gerard said ,,the .22cal & .25cal reg set to 130 bars ,,, if you want to get a good string ,,,just turn off 1/4 turn and HST 2 full turns ,,,then step by step tight the HST until you will get the desired speed and shot to shot consistency ….

CONGRATS …. :8: :8:

That stock is some kind of “Exception that proves the rule…” :fishinghole:

Nice stock, the .25 regulator is set to 130bar, the .30 is set to 150bar

They are usually set in the 150 range. Congrats on a fine looking weapon.

Oh, that’s nice!!!!
