Quad O-Rings seals
Anyone have any experience in using these type of O-ring anywhere in their PCP ?
Advantages of Quad Rings vs. O-Rings
•Avoid twisting in the groove. The seal does not tend to roll in the groove during reciprocating movement.
•Low friction. It requires less radial squeeze than a comparable O-ring.
•Less friction means less wear, and thus a longer service life.
•Very good sealing efficiency due to it special profile.
•A lubricant reservoir formed between the sealing lips improves start up

I have two friends that have Vulcans, I out shoot (target and vermin) them both with my Cricket 22 cal.
It’s hard to beat a well seasoned Cricket, and that’s just the excuse they been telling me anyway.
But it helps to have more years shooting under ones belt also, and a good shot often prevails over any gun.

iride , no I do not have a Cricket and to tell you the truth I really don’t want one . My .25 Vulcan is just fine for me and as long as
I can hit my target at 192 yds. with it I don’t care about shooting a hole in a hole at 100 yds. or 200 yds. Killing my prey at 192 yds.
is good enough for me . If I wish to shoot farther and have tight groups at farther distances then I would consider getting a big bore
PCP or a custom .223 or larger caliber center fire gun .

Maybe apples to oranges but Orings in motorcycle chains have jumped light years ahead of the old O ring chains,
You can get 30,000 miles out of the new super sealed o ring chains today, The ones of yesterday were pretty well shot at 10,000 miles….
New and improved rubber and sealed O rings are a good thing for all of us.
There is nothing better than one hole groups at 100 yards, Except one hole groups at 200 yards,
I think we are in the years of the best air guns ever, Or maybe you just do not have a Cricket, LOL :whistle: :whistle: :whistle:

Is there a good way to examine the .22 Vulcan o-ring grove or to smooth the edges so they won’t prick or cut the o-ring ❓
I usually haven’t have problem with the groove edges just the bottom of the groove itself sometimes.
I used a piece of twine treated with Flitz polishing compound and spun it around in the groove.
The only time I had trouble with the actual edges of the groove is on the Cricket regulator piston retainer e-clip groove.
If it gets bind halfway out onto the groove wall when removing it, it will create a sharpened edge inside.
When reinstalling the piston it will cut/nick the 2mm X 10mm O-ring it every time.
I lightly sanded just the edges with 20 micron wet sandpaper and polished it with a Dremel felt wheel and Flitz.

I think Earnest puts better rings in with his tune up…
Better is always better in my book.
I may have to look into ordering a few for the most replaced on the crickets.

While in the Navy, I was stationed on a submarine tender for 4 years supervising in the repair and over haul of hydraulic, high pressure air, nitrogen system and anything that keep salt water from coming in the people tank.
In the submarine world you need QA package the size of a bible just to fix a leak with two other QA inspectors watching every move you make.
Not once I seen a quads oring other then adding a coiled Teflon backup rings on the hydraulic rods piston that raise and lower all the mast inside the sail—that include the periscope, snorkel mast, radar and all the antennas.
note: orings is like putty it will fill any shape when pressure is applied, it will look like a quad even if it gets rolled over in dynamic application.
I had a top secret clearance—> so that’s all I can say !
In AG applications no quad ring required in my QA manual.
what you need to inspect is sharp edges that the oring side over while positioning the oring, an oring groove that is free from pitting and scratches (from oring picks) is the most importance.
I have not had to replace a Oring in my crickets yet,

The one that shoots the most , will be the better shot most of the time.
Just like Zonk and his red rider BB gun shooting one hole groups at 250 yards, I think he did cheat and use the Crossman super BBs,
You got to have a gun but the shooter makes the gun,
Oh and good Orings makes the gun shoot a lot better,
