Quick/cheap heavy hammer
I you’d like to do some testing with a heavier than stock hammer, but don’t want to spend the bucks on a test, here’s a cheaper alternative. Check out your local hardware store for bronze bushings. The biggest one my local store stocks is a 3/4″ id x 1″ od x 2″ long, which happens to be a perfect fit, and is the same length as my original delrin hammer. Weight is exactly 75 grams, vs. about 50 for the stock late model Talon hammer. The only thing I did to prep it was chuck it up in my lathe and polish it a bit, stuck it in my rifle and started shooting. I don’t remember what I paid, but I think it was around $5. So far so good, will post more later if anything changes. Later.
