"Country Style" pellet trap
When you live in the “sticks”, the extra land allows you to keep odds and ends, junk you might find a use for someday. An exhausted, old Sears brush shredder has been skulking around my bamboo grove for years, awaiting a trip to the recycle pile. It dawned on me: “the hopper might just make a great, ready made pellet trap.”
Conveniently, a pizza box plugs the front to hold rubber mulch. A shoved a chunk of wood into the narrow end. Voila’, sheer elegance from recycled materials. Works great and easy to replace the front with fresh cardboard, pizza boxes, etc. So far, no pellets, even the R3M shooting Kings at 952 fps, 40 yds, have hit the steel, so it’s quiet. Took all of four minutes to make.
Best of all, there’s now concrete evidence that some of the other crap lying around might transform into useful objects.

Too hard to get the lead out to reuse.

While I appreciate the sentiment, I prefer to know where they drop and drop ’em quickly. Don’t want them rotting under the porch, deck, woodpiles, etc.
Oh Crap! I forgot to cover the trap before yesterday’s rain. That pizza box probably melted. …sigh… guess I’ll have to get another pizza.

Oh yeah… cats, feral cats are on the hit list. However, it’s too hard to see good groups 😛 There’s a downside:
Until recently, the ground was too frozen to bury them, so they piled up in the distant “biorecycling” area. frozen. Now that things are thawing out…
