Q:

"Standard" paintball tank adapter

I have been working on a way to allow airforce owners to use their valves on different sized air tanks. I figured the easiest way was to make an adapter that has 5/8-18UNF male threads to screw into many standard sized air tanks, including catalina cylinders 9000 series tanks. On the other side of the adapter is female M18x1.5 threads to allow the standard valve to be screwed into.

Here is what it looks like so far. Strait off the lathe no sanding or polishing.

o-ring will be fine.

Does anyone know what I use to seal the threads on the valve when screwing it into my adapter? Should I use Loctite? red or blue? Or do I just let the O-ring do its work.

NICE WORK!

5/8 – 18 WILL FIT MOST PAINTBALL TANKS ALSO

Oh darn I think you’re right.

Oh well, sorry!

You cant anodize steel right?

Hey bikin,

Depending on price I still want to get my shroud anno’d. If you want to go halfies on a multiple item anodizing I’d go for it.

You’ve come this far by yourself (and a great job)…so wander around the following site and finish the part yourself. Are a lot of choices here and can get a very professional looking job done if you just follow instructions.

That will be hard because I am not 21. I doubt they would even let me in their store, no telling what I would do!! 😆

Getting one piece done can be very expensive. You might want to find a gunsmith who does blueing and see what he will charge.

Nope! and that is what I am trying to decide. I am thinking of blacking it like this http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3237 but not sure is there is someone around me that does that, or if I could do it myself. What finish would you suggest?

That looks fine.

Have you decided what finish to put on it?

I believe it is 1018.

Looks good. What kind of steel did you use?

u r getting mighty handy with that lathe. nice work and good idea.
