Q:

R3 .25 Matador – "out of box" accuracy at 100 yard

This what I was able to achieve while sighting in my scope.

The point of impact keeps shifting because I was adjusting the turrets. I started on the left upper target and got the group in the middle of the two, left targets. Then I went to the right upper; then the right lower; then the left upper; then the left lower.

All groups are 1.1″ to 1.5″ (28-38mm) CTC. Pellets were JSB King 6.35mm (unsorted). The scope – Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tac 8.5-25x (shot at 25x). There is much to discuss when comparing my
R2.5 to this R3. I’ll get into that in the video.

Hey Ted, I was just curious… You mentioned that your .22 was far more accurate at 50y than your new .25 because of…. you’re more ‘familiar’ with your ol’ trusty .22 than the .25? Perhaps the .25 just needs to be broken in? Would love to hear your opinion on the matter. Thanks!

I am going to call you out, here on the TAG. I really want to see back to back groups: your famous/infamous R2.5 22 standard against your R3 25 cal long. Reviewing that last sentence; it sounded kind of harsh but; inquiring minds want to know!

Bah! That didn’t read harsh at all. Hoot keeps us all leathery and tough around here.

The R2.5 was at the range with me on this day. It beat the .25 at 100 yards, and clobbered it at 50 yards. But, I was using a tin of pellets that were KNOWN shooters in that gun (5.51-5.52). I’ve come to the realization that I will never sell my R2.5. Not because I think it is the best or most accurate PCP, but because I KNOW IT inside and out. I have had offers that would make your head spin. But, in my opinion, even those inflated amounts were not enough to account for all the time I have put into that thing.

PLUS, the R3 doesn’t allow for my schnazzy pellet holder and cheek rest. 😉

When I compare the two, there is NO DOUBT I will be bias as hell towards the 2.5.

Hi Ted!

Looking pretty good so far!

I guess that the O rings got you up and going.
