Q:

R3 Barrel torque value and reg tuning

Does anyone have any info on the barrel torque value on the R3 std .22 ?? If not the exact value then atleast some directions for proper torque. Loose? Snug? Tight? Real tight? Red in the face-tight ?? Thanks in advance !

Thanks a bunch. Again…
The only problem with that particular system is that i don´t have any real chronograph at hand. I use Combro (http://www.chronoscopes.com/) and while very handy for occasional fps check it´s a PITA to do shot strings with. I´d need to take a shot, reset, shoot again, reset etc. and write down every shot fps to keep a record. Or so i think – this little device stores highest/lowest fps but i don´t think it can show every shot separately, not without contact to a computer and i don´t have the neeed cableware for that. Will order though!
As for now it stacks pellet-on-pellet (literally) on 30 yrds which for the moment is the longest range i´ve access to without getting at the range. It didn´t do that when i had it set at around 900 + fps so i´ll do per your suggestion and try the reg set at 5.30 and target to 880-890 to see if the groups/shot count is on par with the current 855 +- fps. I´ll do the ever important 😉 pellet stacking exercise and if it looks good i´ll head to the range and do some 55 + yrd groups. BTW – i read somewhere that the reg first takes the new adjusted set when the gun is filled and shot untill it goes off the reg. Any truth to this ??
Thank you for taking the time to assist me on this!

How’s your shot string SD and Max spread look ? I’d shoot at distance and check your groups.
I’d move it to 5:30 and see how close you get to 880-890 mark then another test group.
You can keep adjusting up fps until your groups start getting flyers so you know where your particular guns accuracy limits are for that pellet.
The 880 mark for diablo pellet is proven and popular balance for accuracy, fpe, shot count.

I lubed Orings with silicone grease and cleaned washers with Ballistol and left light coating.
That reg has close to 30k pellets now on original Orings and working perfect. Going to tear it apart for
an inspection soon.

O.K. That means pretty tight then,i quess. Thanks! BTW – i turned my reg. down 1/2 a turn and i now get 260 mps (850-855 fps) so if i back it up ….. of a turn i´m somewhere near the magical 885-890 fps ? My less than educated quess is 1/6 of a turn back but maybe someone has a better quess. Or ? 😯
Also, Mr. Dempsey – I recall reading,in some other thread, that you lubed the reg. shims with something. I may be wrong though. If you do what lube is recommended ? I quess silicone grease is too thick and could make those shims to stick. Or maybe it´s not recommended to lube them at all – just to keep them clean to fight sticking ??

Both mine are appx 1/4 turn past hand tight(my hand tight is pretty snug)
