Q:

R4 Evo build ….. yep im at it again !

Well im back to bore the rabble of the TAG some more , with another build , so ive got a excuse not to do christmas shopping with the lady when it comes !.
So ive got my G0704 mill CNC,d running with ballscrews , 360oz motors with the Gecko G540 and all i can say is thank F***K ive finaly got that piece of crap X2 junked in the corner of my shed 😀 . Im more than happy with the performance of the Gecko despite others saying it wouldnt work on this size machine , ok its not going to do speed records but its a hobbie mill not a comercial machine. The machine is just SO MUCH better than the X2 its untrue. I can finaly mill with the cutter being true to all axis and without the X2 column flexing away like a flag pole on a heavy cut. Its holding .06 of backlash on the X and Y axis with the Z axis having .18 …dooohhh ,which i cant find where its coming from …hmmm ? more investigating 😕

So ive started to build a bullpup along the lines of the T4. I always thought that the T4 could of been better , there were a few things that niggled me about the design ie. only 8 shots and the complex cocking.
The bullpup mag has got 12 pellets this time which was easier to design as the mag didnt have to rotate so far and a side cocking handle to make the gun easy to cock. Its also smaller in size with the breach about 15mm shorter than the T4 .

Im also thinking of making this a multi pump with the idea that i could pump a cylinder with enough air for 12 full power shots. Getting a dive cylinder filled around here is a pain and expensive . Im still working on the drawings for the multi pump which il post later but im going to try and make it.

The breach is complete apart from some engraving , also the cocking handle and mag indexing bar. Ive had abit of time in my shed !.

And this one is for Millie …. my long time partner in crime ! , co conspirator in the Russian T4 gun copy scandal , motivator when all was lost and all round cheese and ham monster who died last week of old age.
Some will say the Russian secret service finaly got to her for her part in the T4 scandal but i can confirm her death was from natural causes.
I miss her greatly .

P.S it looks like im about to be a dad at the age of 40 ……shoot me now someone …. please ! 😀

Buba, You are happiest man I ever seen – You have a lot of time to make that exellent shiny things 😉 Alas, I do not have enough time – all my time takes making of PCP-regulators and different kinds of reservoirs. My time – is my money. My country’s f…k’n government makes Ukraine one of the most poor countries in Europe 🙁 So I have to make money, not work of art as You 😉
Glad for You! Always waiting for photos of Your works!

That looks fantastic.

Love the new mill BTW 😀

Some pics of the internals as requested

The indexing bar works the same as the T4 but its alot smaller. Ive also got the indexing bar (the sprung bit 😯 that turns the magazine) to turn the mag and hold the mag in place until the probe is pushed forwards. By doing this (i hope) ive got rid of the pin that locks the mag and stops it over rotating , instead the indexing bar locks it in alignment with the barrel bore.

As it all lines up 🙄 then i should be able to use this type of probe (hole in the end) hopefully to make the air travel smoother behind the pellet rather than the pointy type probe. This hole type probe needs the gun to index precisely or because of the flat face it will just smack into the mag face and burr the pellet holes.

This is all made out of brass which i may keep , but as you can see when the side plates screwed inplace the indexing mech will all be flush with the side of the gun and hopefully keep the dirt out. ALso wasted the cocking handle away as it was DAM ugly !.
Thats the plan anyways 😀 , the breach is all indexing fine and lines up , so its on with the hammer and trigger group.

AWESOME!!!!!

Hi South ” Cricket (from Caliber) and T4 from Demyan ” , not much like a Cricket apart from side cocking . The Cricket looks alot more complex than this internaly. Its using the same indexing type design as the T4 as this is so easy to build but thats where the similarity ends. I think ive managed to get all the indexing parts hidden away as it always bugged me that the brass index bar had to stick out the side of the T4. The transport valve side of the R4 will be alot differant from the T4 and im toying with a change of trigger group.
As far as the pump action gun , i did think about giving it away but i need the parts off it and didnt fancy posting parts around the world. Its not worth selling as its just something i was playing with and not completly sorted , so better to move on to something that i can use. I may come back to it if i get the law clarified.

Finished 3 mags and the internals of the indexing mech , gone with .22 again as ive got a QB78 gun to strip for the barrel . I did want to go with .20 cal but couldnt spash the cash on a barrel right now. BSA dont look like they do .20 barrels so the alternative would have been £100 for a white barrel 😯 . Gona trim the handle back as it looks abit big at the moment.
The side cocking handle will be held shut by two 6mm magnets glued in the holes on handle and breach

buba, instead of binning it you should sell it to a Yank
don’t have all those laws to deal with (well most of us don’t, few poor bastards do though)

As far as the old build … i got so many emails saying it bad news for me and the law , that in the end i could see that i made a gun i couldnt take anywhere without being arrested . Ive used it only once and it worked fine before i took the firing valve out and bined it to the spare room where it sits now. It will be broken up for parts at some point and maybe il film a snuff film of me cutting it up Twisted Evil …. wheres that grinder !.

😥 😥 😥

Glad to see You, Buba! I was missing for photos of Your exellent metal works! Now You building something between Cricket (from Caliber) and T4 from Demyan 😉

Once your got the G0704 running DogWood , your wonder why you ever bothered with the X2 and see why it took you so long to get anywhere with the dam thing ! 😀 . Im thinking of turning the X2 into a tool grinder or maybe linear bearings on all axis or just get the grinder out and cut it up …. im so tempted 😈 .

Cool looking stock Bigtoe and you did well for 6 hours work 😯 . The one i did for the T4 took me weeks , which is why im going to try and do some 3D milling . Ive got a plank of 2″marine ply here for the stock which should look cool all machined and it was free too 😀 . I should be able to just about get the stock on my new mill , the only thing stopping me is the fact that Mach 3 only allows for 500 lines of code. So im looking to buy Mach 3 ….ouchh ! or change to EMC2 and all the fun that entails.
Thats once i can get Cambam to program 3D contouring … which is messing withmy head !

would this stock do?

here pictured with a 500mm long FX air tube…

Its maple…i could carve one from Walnut as easy…i know there is a mistake on this first one, the second would be better

Edit: 20th Sept.

Had a couple of PM’s regards this stock. At this time its not inlet for any action, my initial idea was 850 airmagnum, then HW100…now im still deciding. The mistake is just forward of the trigger, I chopped to much out and had to add some back.

Would I make another?

Yes…but I would need this one as a template, i hand carved this first one with a drill/dremmel and 4inch grinder(using as a sander) in around 6 hrs to what you see now totally freehand.
The stock is 2″ wide to except pretty much any action with barrel bands on the air tank.
Now…getting Walnut blanks big enough may be hard, I used low grade maple for this first one as buying 2″planks is quite easy…laminate would probably be the easy option.

Lastly…inletting…I think this should be done with the action to hand, I am not a professional at this….heck this is the first stock i carved. So if I do make extras you would need to inlet it yourself.

forgot to mention, glad to hear you like the g0704, got one on order 😀

X2 is driving me nuts

What happened to the old build??

Looks Good, will keep an eye on this one.

Sorry to hear about your cat, Lost 2 (16 & 17 yrs old) a couple of years ago.

40? bah, became a dad at 45 😯 say goodbye to sleep.
