Q:

R8 Collet Quick Change or Regular

Looking to buy tooling now that the beast has arrived.

Quick change collet or the regular loosen the drawbar every time…?

I like the quick change idea so the drawbar basically goes unused, any bad things regarding the quick change systems?

I was thinking of this one…

If it were me I’d run the standard r-8 collets unless you’re going into production…I’ve used the bridgeport quick-change collets and they are slick but unless your running a volume of parts or wan to buy a bunch of the q-c collets then I don’t think its worth it..IMO….

Are you in a hurry?

id get a good drill chuck an use it for most little things . then stick with the r8collets for better work .

only down side I can see is you’ll be losing some Z axis
But it’s quite possible you won’t even notice it for 99% or you projects.

That said there have been a number of times I wished I had more Z
