Rail mounting

For you that have mounted a short picatinny rail for a bipod to the forearm, are you drilling thru for a bolt & nut or using wood screws ? TIA

Drilled through using a Forstner bit for a clean hole. Small washers and acorn nuts for a clean appearance.

I drilled through with a ss washer, screw and locking nut for a very solid mount. I don’t have to worry about it coming loose or stripping.

I used 8-32 brass inserts that go in about 1/2 inch. Then machine screws to attach the rail.

It looks much nicer when you take off the rail.
