Range Finding…
The subject of range finding comes up as does lasers for field situation where holdover is critical. Here are my solutions; hope this helps!
Diagram… for mapping your range to mildot, my yardage is written in blue and refers to 4.5x magnification (lowest).
Laser… I have a laser mounted just 1.5″ from bore (the same as a conventional rifle scope). The laser is sighted for 12 yards with shots closer requiring up to a maximum of 1.5″ holdover depending on distance (instead of my scope height of 2.6″).
Optical Range Finding… I have measured the drinking rim of a soda can (2″) and the height of a credit card (2.1″). And compared them against my mildots at various ranges; recording the yardage in green. This is handy for a know shooting position or blind.

I used a daisy red sight mounts, removing them, flipped upside down, and mount a BSA 22 laser virtually on the rail. I removed the BSA logo and the whole setup looks pretty good. I used blue loctite to stiffen up the windage and elevation.
