Q:

Raptor Pneumatics EZ-Fill 4500

My new 4500 PSI compressor arrived today….F I N A L L Y ! !

I’m going to do my best to give you a thorough review. There are not many options for filling our tanks, so many of you may be interested in this latest offering. I was told (before it became available to the public) that it was called an OMEGA SUPERCHARGER. Well, looks like they started a new company for this product and the official name on the device is RAPTOR PNEUMATICS EZ-FILL 4500. Size of this unit is similar to a desktop computer tower, but a tad wider and heavier. Package weight was 78lbs….so I’m guessing 70lbs unpacked.

Some pics:

Here are some spare parts and tools included. Nice tools by the way…..

A look at the internals:

Stand by for future posts concerning operation and fill times.

If these things work out as well as I think they will my Shoebox may be for sale. There might be a long order list, though, for a while.

AOA is in the process of making a complete video. They expect it ready in a week or so. I don’t know the fill time for a recharge yet because I haven’t had to do one. Lol. 75cf bone dry filled to 4600psi takes just under 4 hours. I would imagine I would refill at 3500psi….so maybe 35-50 minutes???

Nice
I´m considering in buy it.
I want to know, how many time spend in fill a 88cu ft tank, from 3000 to 4500 psi.

You would consider to make a video for youtube!
thanks

No sir….not classified as breathable air.

Is that 4500 psi of human breathable air?

3 hours and 50 minutes to fill to from 0 PSI TO 4600 PSI. And the tank, compressor, valves, everything is pretty much cool to the touch….maybe 10 degrees over room temp. Works great. I just have to find out from AOA about that fill cap.

Ok through AOA. I took my tanks to the firehouse for the initial fills a few years back. It would take over 24 hours to fill a 44 cu ft 4500 tank with a standard Shoebox I think. I bet you are looking at 15-20 minute top offs on an 75 tank. They take the SB 2.5 hours on a 44 cf tank from 3000 to 4500.

Well, I decided to try it again. This time I unscewed the water fill cap and just placed it on top of the hole instead of screwing it in. It seems that the pressure in the water tank is making the water leak out of the reservoir and then the auto shut off engages. Without the fill cap there is no pressure build up and the tank stays full. Much quieter then then the Shoebox Freedom…Less then 74db at 5 feet (A weighted).

About 2 hours far to fill to 2000 psi.

3200 PSI in 3 hours and everything is working perfectly now with the fill cap off.

quote Dr. Steele:

Ok. The unit is about as loud as a laundry washer from the 80s. Put it in the garage and close the door and you hear nothing. It took 25 minutes to fill an empty 75cf tank to 500psi. About 48 minutes to get to 1000psi. Now the tank is at 1200 psi and the auto shut off has kicked off the unit. After trouble shooting I think the cause is the water cooling tank is losing water. The filler cap is leaking. I tried tightening it up and refilling water, but it still leaks it out and the auto shut off kicks in. I’ve decided to wait till the morning and contact AOA for some assistance. Yet another day with no air…can’t win.

Sounds like money well spent! JK…sorry for your dilemma…hopefully its an easy fix.

If that is what I think it is it should be real quiet too. I like it already. You got that through Tom?

Omega Compressor is already a large air compressor company and they call their products by that name.

Price for unit a little less then $1800

The unit has an automatic self draining moisture valve on a timer that you can manually set. It works! Proof was in the pudding. I have a small puddle underneath the unit. In my opinion….I’m still going to install an air dryer to it. Although the unit says it does not require one. The timer can be set from 1 to 30 minutes apart and you can also set the duration.

Wow! That looks a bit like an home breathable O2 tank filler with the cover off. The price is about right too. I asked a few times in the past why they didn’t just convert those since they tend to require less maintenance and be more reliable. 😉 How does it reduce moisture?

How many coins?
