Ready to go hunting!

So today I received the last of my gear for the anticipation of the R3M. Am I missing anything? Click on the image to enlarge.

I am working on it Slim, when I am done, squirrels will not be the only thing getting an ass beating 🙄

That’s funny! Have you got the mounts for yer junk yet? Ha Haa!
I’m looking foreword to you getting your rig.

Donny, you might want to add a chronograph.. Chrony or other brands. On mounts… I may suggest good quality adjustable mounts, so you can mount your scope in optical zero.. will help in long range plinking a lot.

A typical and dangerous early phase of the famous disease “Airgunitis for which there is no cure……….. 😉

Where are you from SteelDream that denies you of such great beauty?

I think your vision of the future is correct lol.. lets not tell the wife though. It will just magically appear in my office one day next to my Matador. I told her the matador cost $1,000 and she gave me hell. Imagine if I told her how much it really cost? 😯 That’s what she gets for leaving me in charge of finances. I just need to cut back on baby formula for a while. Mix in half of the recommended dosage. My son can use a diet. I am such a bad father, but I just can’t help it!! I must have these guns. I think it was Old HOOT who once said that he’s shocked at how people priorities their life.. HOOT I am guilty!!! Spank me :2:

Thank you Donny. I am not a prophet but I see you will have both Edgun and Cricket in the near future. Congrats on your purchase.. you guys are so fortunate to be able to have those beautiful guns.

Hi Steeldream,

As you know the look of the gun all comes down to personal preference. There’s just something about the looks of the Edgun Matador that attracted me to it. The Cricket is also a beautiful gun and I will eventually own one as well. But below are my reasonings as to why I decided to go with the Matador as my first PCP 🙂

1. I wanted a bullpup in .25 cal that is less than 30 inches long. Cricket only has the .25 in long (33 inches). I know big whoop 3 inches but, those 3 inches(Cricket vs R3M) makes a big difference when comparing the STD vs long of the Cricket. There is almost a 6 inch difference. I love the way the STD cricket looks. If it had a .25 in STD I would have gone with that.

2. Magazine changing looks easier with the Matador. Cricket owners said that it is a little different from what they are used to but eventually after repetition they got the hang of it. The R3M just looks very simple to do.

3. I like the idea of the gun carrying spare mags. Cricket Bulldog owners complained that the option added weight to the gun and made it bulky. Also the fore grip was wider. In the R3M the extra mags are placed under the scope rail. Which doesn’t change the weight or look of the gun. So if you like the bulldog version of the Cricket. Remember that it adds about .8 lbs to it compared to the skeleton. Then you have to add a scope to it so maybe another pound. Then maybe a bipod. So total weight will be close to 10 lbs.

4. Owners who own both guns compared them as Lady Cricket is beautiful yet sensitive, whereas the Matador is built like a tank and are work horses. I myself like durability and the sound of the “tank”

5. I think it was Zocco who showed the internals of the breech and showed how there are plastic parts in the Cricket whereas the Matador are metal/steel. Not sure if the Cricket has changed out the plastic parts since that review but I just don’t trust plastic much in an area that takes a beating over time.

6. Edguns are definitely harder to acquire than the Cricket. I just started getting into PCP 2 months ago so kind of got lucky in that the R3Ms are coming out and I was able to get on the waiting list for September/October’s shipment. Some owners waited years to get their hands on one. My friend Hemn has waited almost 2 yrs for his(shipping issues). I feel that I can get the Cricket anytime I want. Just call up one of the many distributors in the US and have it within a week.

7. After trolling this forum for a while I’ve come to admire Ed’s commitment to providing a quality gun to his followers. He is a regular on here answering questions and asking us for our inputs to his design. I also enjoy watching all of his youtube videos of him testing out the guns. You don’t see that from the Kalibrgun owner. He was on here for a few responses but then disappeared. Ed can be reached through email and he usually gets back to me within hrs.

8. Resale of the Edguns usually go pretty quick on the Yellow. You get what was originally paid for it or even more.

9. Performance wise, owners who own both guns said its very hard to distinguish them apart. Both great and accurate guns.

Only thing I am worried about is getting service done to the R3M if anything happens. O rings and small stuff I can do on my own but if I have to replace a breech, regulator or something big I know its going to be a long wait.

Hope that helps, PS the people I talk to on here are great and have years of experience with air guns and some with both Matador and Cricket. So their inputs were very valuable.

Donny;

Don’t forget the cleaning & maintenance items which i mentioned before go for the links that i provided for you,,,,, you won’t be able to survive your lovely Edgun without Cleaning items,,,,

Lol… I don’t have a gun yet to test it out but my first impression of it is that it is solid (very heavy). I did a lot of research before I bought it, and compared to Crosman and the FX hand pump everyone eventually returned their pumps and got the Hill and very satisfied with it. I got mine through Pyramid Air, free shipping on items over $150, use their summer discount code on their main page to get additional 10% off and it also comes with a lifetime warranty.

Edit*** crap don’t take my word on the 10% off, it was their yesterday, I guess the sale is over but you can still get free shipping over $150

I actually didn’t get the 10% off either. I saw the advertisement after I ordered.

quote Urgirlinmyjetta:

don how do you like the hill pump?…im a few clicks away from buying one cause im not close to a scuba shop to fill up my scuba tank…and regardless its only a 3000psi tank so i only get about a 170 bar fill from it….im going to get the shoebox but when my next vacation check comes in….but in the meantime i want to use the hill pump to bump up from 120 back to 200 bar.
