Q:

Received Mutant Short Barrel Replacement From TGAG

I just finished up installing the barrel Peter sent me in exchange to the Made In Germany barrel. The barrel is superbly machined as well as being 15 mm in diameter. It looks and feel like a much more substantial barrel as compared to the MIG barrel. Also, the rifling is more pronounced and I believe there is also a choke. I’m not sure but when I was running cleaning patches through it, I felt some resistant towards the muzzle end. The barrel is slightly longer than the MIG barrel. I ran a few pellets thru her just before it got dark. I could tell this barrel is a huge improvement over the MIG barrel right away. At 25 yards, I drew a few dots with a sharpie about the diameter of a .22 cal pellet and I am hit each consistent and with ease. I attribute it to the great trigger and the much improved barrel. I will shoot her more later on this week or on the weekend when I get some time.

I’ll post some pics later.

So far, Peter has made me square. It was a long wait but I now feel it was worth it. Especially at the great price of $1100.

Thanks

Gabe

Gabe congrats, on a nice regulator along with that nice barrel your rig should be a laser. How is your trigger adjusted ? Do you have a nice light crisp two stage?

Without the Ldc adapter, my gun is 22.75 inches long. The adapter adds .5 inches to the length. My gun is launching 16 grain AAs (jsbs) at 844 fps begin in at 240 bar down to about 150 bar for approximately 30 shots. The spread is very tight within that range. About 4-6 fps. I could get another 5-10 shots but the spread grow steadily. I expect for the gun to settling in over time. It is practically brand new with less than 200 shots.

Thanks

Gabe

thanks for the info Gabe. wow, 4-6 fps over 30 shots! I sent mine back to Petr because it was giving 30fps across one magazine. It’s my hope the gun will be returned to me with a more acceptable spread. If it could come close to your gun’s performance I’d be very happy. If you gun’s spread increases after 30 shots, have you seen a change in POI at some point after the 30 shots?
thank you again,
Darryl

I hear you Sloth!

Their IPAs are also smooth. There are some harsh, bitter IPAs out there. I try to stay away from them. No need for bubble guts 🙁

Gabe

Nice choice in beer, I like their porter. :biggrinn:

I’m happy for you Gabe. Glad you’re satisfied. Nice work on that bottle cap too. I look forward to your reports of stretching it out a bit more. Is your gun now the OEM length with the new barrel?
enjoy!
Darryl

IDK!

All I know is that I was asked by Jeff to send my “made in Germany” to Joe brancatos shop in Huntington Beach before he could send me the replacement barrel. I think he is a rep for Peter and Joe. Shit IDK!

Gabe

Who is Jeff???

This may not mean much to many, but so far the new barrel has proved to me that I can place each shot where I want at 25 yards. This is something I could never do with the “German” barrel. I cut across a bottle cap, six shots using 16 grain AA(jsb) .22 pellets. I hope to stretch her out soon.

I don’t know the true identity of this barrel. It may be a CZ or made in the Czech Rep barrel based on the actual physical piece. Jeff said it was a CZ so I’m leaning towards that. Regardless, I’m happy with my mutant.

Thanks all!
Gabe

nice Gabe. I am so relieved Peter is stepping up. Great, hope the other guns get replaced barrels too.

I have a good feeling about he new barrel. I had no confidence in the made in Germany barrel.

I inspected the barrel before installing and I did not notice any markings. No dimples, stamps, or flat spots. I owned a cricket and it looks very similar to the cricket barrel in blueing and muzzle crown. Just from comparing the rifling of the new barrel to the old barrel, the new barrel rifling lands are taller.

Gabe

Gabe, congratulations…finally got the barrel.

Petr said to me that the barrel and lever replacement should be sent out late last week. But there was no tracking number sent to me last week.
I called him over the weekend and he didn’t answer the phone (his voice mail is not even setup). Then he finally responded to my email saying he will test the barrel on Sunday morning and be ready on Monday (his helper will be back from vacation on Monday). But no tracking on Monday (yesterday). I sent him an email this morning again asking for status. He said he will leave a note to his helper to give me the tracking number…. Well, what can I say?

Gabe, pushing the barrel to 50 yards and beyond… that will show if the barrel is indeed capable.
Anyway, the wait finally paid off…

Regards,
Endo

How do u guys know these are true CZ barrels? ANY Id’ING marks?

I guess it don’t really matter if it shoots like or better than the typical cz…
