Recommendation on Lever Action PB?
Any recommendations? I’m interested in a good shooter, lever action, with the option for mounting a scope. Do they exist?

I looked at the other levers and either the price was expensive $1200+ or the trigger sucked.
I weighed up my options and finally went with a carbine shotgun. A Mossberg 590 with 18.5″ barrel, great trigger, cylinder bore, ati folding collapsable, and 5+1 capacity. It is perfect when paired with Hornady TAP 00-buckshot. It’s also very affordable new or pre owned.
My patterning board took every shot dead center during slow and rapid fire.
Saw:
most of the Hollyweird rapid fire hip shooting scenes were done with modified levers
if you look real close at some of the vintage films you will note a thumb screw going through the trigger bow of the lever and when cranked in it acts on the tip of the trigger to automatically drop the hammer as you close the lever
you see this work commonly done only to Winchester 92’s and usually in conjunction with the large loop, so called “Rifleman’s” lever most commonly on cut down Mare’s leg “pistols” however the thumb screw mod to the lever originally started out as an aftermarket mod to lever guns issued to a few different State prisons in the early 20th century
on the non Hollywierd vintage guns it was usually done to 94′ carbines in .30WCF
set up with the screw mod an operator familiar with the system can pour some serious lead down range 😉
Dont get me wrong, my Rossi I have brought out shooting
maybe 10 times, all times a great shootin lever gun
no recoil to speak of
The Henry 17, well what can I say, only took her out 2 times
The Henry has a polished brass reciever, beautiful gun
really want to keep it that way, more of a safe queen
I am into the AR15 and Rem 700 now
My SPS 700 223 can hit 1/2# exploder targets all day at 300
yards, gonna get the same 700 in 308 for more range
I will say my Rossi Puma is a great shooting gun
need to get her out more often

That’s a good choice of Guns. I have the 30-30 and the 4570 Gvt in the lever action. I have the Remington 700 bolt Varminter in 308″”Yep I broke down and bought it, and had enought left over to buy the Savage Model 10-xp in the 223. I make my own ammo up, Ive been reloading for a long time, but never cast the first lead Bullet. I weigh the case and the powder and the bullett and then weigh it all when it is put together, real time consuming but well worth it. The bullet in a dummy case is incerted into my rifle and it is seated in the gun precise. The groups are exelant like that.
Any way that Henry is a nice gun, too nice for me cause I couldn’t resist the urge to breake it in and prep it for the best shot, 😀 😀 too nice of a Gun to shoot so I passed on it,, it is an eye stopper. 😀 😀

Do you prefer the Henry loading tube or the rosi loading gate? It seems like the gate would be easier and more convenient? What are your thoughts? Also how is the trigger on the rosi?
The Rosi in 38SP/357 is a great option for me since I own a 38SP pistol. I can shoot cheap or expensive ammo as my needs arise. Great recommendation!!!

I have a Marlin 1894 44mag, Rossi Puma 357 and a Henry

All very fun to shoot 😛 , the Rossi shoots very accuratly
with iron sights, the Henry, well its too nice and I have only shot it 2
times 🙄 , the Marlin makes a good compliment to my SW 629
I like to group my calibers
Over all the Rossi is my fav. all can be scoped, however I like shootin the lever guns with iron sights, just me
Ha, when I first got that Rossi I tried to do the ole cowboy rapid fire
from the hip, Rifleman style, ended up with a trigger sized hole in
my trigger finger 🙄 , ouch that hurt, least my buddies got a good laugh

I competed in SASS for a few years and used both the Rossi 92 in 45 and the Marlin Cowboy in 45.
The Rossi was handy being so short, but a little hard at times to manipulate with be big SWC bullets.
I disassembled it to polish it and found it almost impossible to reassemble.
The Marlin 94 Cowboy 45 LC however was fast and deadly with a tang peep sight.
At times I would mount a scope on it and use it out to 250 yards on ground squirrels, the thwack it made was really rewarding.
It also worked fairly well in the BlackPowder class in SASS, but I still had to clean the barrel between stages as the powder fouling built up fast with 8 or 10 shots rapid fire in the stages of competetion and not blowing between shots like I did on my Sharps rifles.
My son used a Marlin 357, it had the micro groove barrel and gave so so accuracy with cast bullets.
One of the handiest lever guns I have owned was a Browning straight stocked carbine in 308. Not the most accurate rifle in the world but very powerful for its size but it did hold MOD (minute of deer).
I have had several Browning and Winchester 95’s in 3006, 303 Brittish and in 3040 Krag, while I did love shooting them they did not carry well in the field and of the three calibers the 303 Brittish, which was made for the Canadian market, was by far the most accurate even with it’s dark bore.
I had a few of the Browning 86’s in 4570, but they were big and clumsy for what they delivered, the carbine hardly ever shot to the sights and prefered the 74 and 78 Sharps in single shots for the 45 .21 and 2.6.
I also competed with a lever action Winchester MDL 87 12 gauge shotgun in the Black Powder class. I rebarrel it with a modern 12 gauge 2 3/4 barrel so I could use Double AA hulls.It was as fast as any 97 Winchester but was a dangerous gun to carry in the field as the hammer sat directly on the firing pin if yu had one in the tube. It was Winchesters first shotgun repeater. If your wondering what the 1987 shotgun was it was what Arnold Swarznegger used in the terminator movie.
