Red or Green, which?
when purchasing an IR scope, some are available with red and green, others red only, green only. If the choice is one color only. which color would be the best choice?

Green uses more energy.. no clue why.
But I prefer green over read. Looks better!
You can see green easier than red and if you keep it dim enough it probably has less impact on your night vision (or current adjustment to available light). That said, it probably makes no difference in 99.999% of hunting situations. If it did, scope makers would be offering a blue-green IR that was the easiest to see and could be turned down to the least impact on your vision.
I shoot against greens and shades of gray to black backgrounds so sounds like red for me.

Very true grit, I shoot against greens and dark greens, so red is best for me.
I prefer the green against the dead and dying foliage of the Florida landscape. The red tends to blend in with the earthtones whereas the green contrasts nicely. Depends on your environment I suppose.
Never had a problem with red, never tried green.
I would of thought for low light red is best?

pines with it being green
fall with reds n browns
i like green the best stands out very well in most all conditions
