regulated AF tanks

How I setup my HPA February 17 2008, 12:17 PM

I should have took pic’s but I will do the best I can with this write up. Keep in mind that I did this with the tools that I have in my home (which is not much).

1. You must have a PB/AS adaptor, and that needs to be installed into the 850’s AS port. I used the Mac-1 adaptor that’s shorter than the B&A adaptor and it will help get the tank closer to the stock.
2. Cut off the plastic tab that would hold on the front plastic stock piece (I used large wire cutters) You can then use a high speed grinder smooth the plastic.
3. Remove the fill nipple and gauge on the Wevo tank and mark which hole is fill nipple (it should have the psi rating right at that spot) it may say 4500psi and that’s the regulators press. Not the tank (the tank is 3000psi). After both are removed, cover the holes with clear Scotch tape so you can still see the holes. I installed a flat thumb tack in the tape of the hole with the gauge. This will help line up the hole with the stock for drilling the plastic for the gauge.
4. After installing the tank and Reg. Make sure it screws in, till it stops and then you can back turn it till the fill nipple hole is pointing down in the place you want it. If it’s more than ¼ back turn the pin on the tank may not open to let the air out of the tank. And we all need air for this to work.
5. Now what I did was cut a straight plastic drink straw and the length from the thump tack to the stock, and added some wrapped duck tape to stick to the inside of the stock. This will help mark the hole spot that need to be drilled. After the tape is installed remove the straw and the tape should stay.
6. I used my small pen air grinder to make a notch on the plastic were the Foster quick disconnect will be attached for filling. You can install the fill nipple back on the tank setup to make sure your filling line fitting (female foster) will hook up and lock.
7. At point you need to remove the tank and Regulator as one from the PB/AS adaptor. The Adaptor should stay in place, if not put it back on the gun and cover the hole with duck tape to the plastic out while drilling the gauge hole.
8. I used a White Out brush to paint a mark around the duck, and then remove the tape after the paint dries.
9. Now the hard part. I used my small pen air grinder with a drill bit installed to drill a hole on the mark. In most cases this will be at an angle, but that’s fine your just making a hole that will soon be larger.
10. The hole for the gauge needs to be larger than 1”so if you have a bit that size your good to go. I had to drill with a ¾” bit first.
11. After the ¾ “ hole is made get a 1-1/4 or 1-1/8 I.D. rubber grommet and center it over the gauge hole, and trace it with a maker.
12. After you have your mark, I used a high speed grinder with coarse sanding bit to grind out the plastic hole to the mark. After that you can use a finer sanding bit to help smooth out the hole. After your done blow the area out with air and make sure things are very clean.
13. Now you can install the tank and line up the holes. Put your gauge back in the Reg. hole and see if you have good clearance like for a socket to remove the gauge if needed. A 24mm thin wall socket works the best for the gauge on the Wevo tank setup from Mat B. If the hole is not right more grinding can be done, (but be careful not the grind too much). If the socket and gauge mate up your good to install the gauge and fill nipple permanently.

Didn’t you guys read that Glenn was already working with him on that a few weeks ago ???

I emailed him about those tanks, he said is working on putting an air force valve on those regulated tanks and to give him a few weeks to work it out.
