Q:

regulated and powerfull

Hallo guys,
I am a member and fun of the forum for couple years now. I haven’t participated so far because I don’t own a talon or condor.
Never the less, I am a small machinist and now I am planing to make my own talon look alike airgun.
I write you from Greece where rimfire and centerfire are used only in specific areas and for matches. But there is no airgun energy restriction law so I want something it can shoot quite hard.

So, I am building the rifle on a .22 weihrauch barrel which I already have, but when it turns out as I want I will make it bigger. The barrel I now have is 50cm.

I plan on using a Jd’s 48 cu.in bottle with a 2000 psi regulator.
My question is, how much volume should the low pressure chamber have, so that I can expect about 900 fps with .38 125 grain bullets? Can this be done?

I would be glad to hear your opinion and thoughts.
Until now I haven’t done something that can’t be changed, so if you have different ideas I am happy to hear them.

I use a 62 ci tank with a 3300 fill. I get 10 shots starting at 250 fpe and ending at 200 with 120 gr.

The chamber I’m building is for the 4500 psi 70ci tank. It is so the valve sets in enough air for a shot and is fed by the tank. I’m looking to fill from 3600-3800 psi.

There is a pic here.

Thanks a lot Dyotat100.
That is a big chamber!! Do you think it would be more efficient without the reg?
How many shots per charge you get with the unreged 70ci tank?

You will need a large chamber. 1.5″x 3.5″. I’m building a chamber for my .308 and that size will get one decent shot at 940 fps with 120 gr. That is with just a tank the size I said. I will be feeding it with a 70 ci 4500 tank and no reg. The regs don’t flow that fast so I think that would work for you.
