Repair information for top hat valve assembly
I’ll apologize in advance as I’m sure this information is on the site somewhere but I couldn’t find it even after multiple searches.
My Talon SS is leaking through the center of the top hat. Dry firing and lots of mallet tapping had no effect.
I called Air Force and they sent me a valve insert o-ring(outside). That was great but while I could probably figure it out eventually I’m sure that there are plenty of mistakes I could avoid by following the instructions whatever they might be.

Does it leak out of the center of the.Top hat with the tank seperate from the rifle or is it a leak out the side when fired ❓
Leak when fired could be breech o-ring and or the valve stem guide O-rong.
A pick or hook tool can remove either but to get to the valve stem guide o-ring inside the brass valve guide you just carefully pry the valve stem forward and out. Careful not to scratch anything. At 5 years old It would be a good idea to replace those o-rings even if not a problem yet.
Thanks Lurker. My Talon is probably five years old and I suspect if I had a burr it would have failed early like yours did.
I’m hoping the o ring change out won’t be that big a deal but that might not be the case.
I had a similar problem on a new Condor tank but it wasn’t the o-ring.
On mine the brass valve seat, where the delrin valve seat ?plug closes the air off, had a burr and after very little use it chewed the face of the delrin seat plug and began to leak slowly at first but got worse overnight. I had to remove the valve body from the tank, which requires an empty tank, a special tool, sometimes a little heat, a gentle big vice, and a lot of persuation. I honed and polished the brass, re surfaced the delrin, cleaned up the tank threads, installed a new tank/valve o-ring, put all back together, tested overnight and only then drank a beer in celebration. More beer would be fun but not at my age. The hangovers last 4-5 days now.

It leaks when the tank is separate from the rifle.
Good advice on the maintenance change out .I’ll get on that.
