Hey guys, here it is winter, and Bloody Cold. So a few friends decide it is
still a good time to shoot. New rules for the fun shoot, 4x or 5x only @ 20
and 30 yard targets. If we don’t get snowed out that is.
So what to do??
A friend sends me a scope, telling me it is my favorite brand and will work
for what I need it for. The package gets here and it is a Sun Optics
4x32mm Prismatic Scope. Perfect, 4x, just what I need. Looking at it I get
really excited, it has not only a sun shade but a flash kill. The reticle
is super fine military etched glass, Illuminated if you need it. Now I need
to set it up and I remember the last scope I set up like this I got rid of
because I could not have the reticle in focus and my target. So putting it
on my TalonP I aim it at a whitish surface and focus the ocular ring until
the reticle is nice and crisp, remove the white cardboard I use for such
things and am very impressed. The target and reticle is in focus, Nice.
So I guess I am hooked on this little scope.
I go to http://air-recoil.com/index.html and order a 34mm Soft-Eye which I
have to cut down for the eye relief and a Butler Creek Multiflex Flip-Open
Eyepiece # 10-11. I use a soda cap with a 1/16 hole in the center for air
relief to cap off the Soft-Eye when not in use.
So down to brass tacks. This was a wonderful scope, very clear, very precise.
The turret clicks were distinct and audible. Everything was in focus from
I believe 10yds (did not measure) out to last target @ 20yds. I aimed it at
my 50yard stand and it looks like I will see the target just fine. Everything
seems in focus at distance. I am very happy with this scope. I could not
properly get my camera hooked up right but I did get a picture of the
reticle to show how fine it is.
When we shoot at night with the hunting lights (mine is green) I use the
red or blue illumination and this scope works very well at night.
All in all I can see a lot of great uses for this scope 🙂

Hi
At 10 yds it is clear enough and in focus but not as sharp as 50yds. As you move out from 8yds the focus becomes
sharper. Right now I still have a ton of snow on the ground so a bit harder to tell.
As for clarity, this scope is very clear and bright at all yardages.
I have tried other 3 and 4 power type scopes and I must say this one is quite impressive.

Ken

I guess my main question is how clear is it at various ranges between 10 yards and 50 yards? It would be nice to have a scope in this power range that you can bring to your eye and your quarry would be in focus without having to twist knobs etc. to take a shot.

Lighthorse,

So, have you had a chance to play with it some more or have you been snowed in like me and the rest of the country?

Hi
Well I would say we’ve had quite a lot of snow. I do have plastic jugs hanging at different distances
and have been shooting at those. I do like this scope allot, so far it has bee a joy to use.
Spring is coming and I will be happy to get in my range.
I just picked up the Sun Optics 4-14×44 First Focal Plane Scope for my new rifle.
When the new gun gets here I’ll be doing a review of that one next.

Lighthorse,

So, have you had a chance to play with it some more or have you been snowed in like me and the rest of the country?

Nice, never used that one, I’ll have to look at it
Thanks

Great!

Yeah, I have a couple of adapters laying around. This is one of my favorites.

It allows me to adjust for “droop”. They also make a longer one.

Thanks
I do plan on putting through some paces this spring. But so far it is very nice.
You will need to get this.

To mount it. It seems to be at a good eye level with it.

Ken

Ken,

Thanks for letting us know about this little thing. I think this could possibly be the scope I have been looking for to put on top of my Talon SS .25 carbine I have building. It should also work well on my Edge mini-sniper. I would greatly appreciate it if you would do a bit more of a follow up report on this scope. Perhaps when you catch a warm enough day, you could see just how close and how far you have clear and crisp reticle and target.
