Rolaids NV2.0 – Goggles for DIY Night Vision

And nowโ€ฆ.the most exciting Rolaids DIY Night Vision build yet! Two camerasโ€™ โ€“ one a spotter cam on the goggles and another using one of the Rolaids NV1.x builds. This is a longer video with a lot of information and tips and tricks that I hope will help you build one of the most enjoyable Night Vision Hunting Rigs ๐Ÿ™‚ http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jdb3GMy1wDI

Using Vuzix 920 Wrap Video Goggles with the latest IR sensitive mini bullet cam this design brings a cool Video-to-Natural Vision Overlay along with fast Spotter-to-Scope Transition for quick target acquisition. (and futuristic pest hunting fun!!)

My main scope build is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wnNFR99xGI&feature=vmdshb

And a build for compact scopes here http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=M4mHi4v0R5o

More videos will follow โ€“ some hunting videos and one that we will be testing multiple IR illuminators for more โ€˜off the shelfโ€™ solutions.

Just back from shooting 88 starlings and 2 pigeons. FUN!! – wires a mess from testing different setups and DVR recordings.

This pic is looking into the Vuzix Glasses and demonstrates the Video-to-Natural Vision Overlay – NO editing done

If I can add a anything to this perfect system. HobbyKing.com has DIY FPV goggles 2.0. And there Wireless!

quote jynxbone6986:

Hey Rolaids. I love all your NV projects but i especially like the goggles. I think they would be awsome for scouting for coyotes. I have one question though. Have u tryed looking through a normal scope with the goggles? Even if u needed a better torch on the gun would it be worth it or is it too difficult to get into view?

It will not work as the camera focus is different and positioning would be a pain. I have not released videos yet publicly but there are more options to combine spotting and shooting. If you want more info email my son – kidron@rolaidsnightvision.com He can help with ideas/parts/complete builds and can send you some unpublished video links of custom example builds.

Cool!! I have some coming too. The handwarmer is a great idea as the last time out hunting my fingers were freezing!! Crazy blood pressure meds ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

Those little vga transmitters came in, so I gave em a little test.

The Camera hooked to the transmitter in basement, pointed at tv screen

The reciever hooked to the 4.3″ screen, took a walk with me out onto the deck. Thats upstairs..through the floor, through the back wall out onto deck. Is only about 15ft or so, but through a floor and a wall.

It worked pretty good, if I walked out any further..it lost signal and screen went blank or nothing but static.

I would think it would work real good at close range..outside line-of-sight ranges..should be no problems.

The one thing I did notice, is they both were warm to the touch. I should think this would not be a problem, as they are made to be inside a car..in trunk and under dash..but who knows.
In the mean time, may make a nice little hand warmer

I just uploaded my first video out hunting with these. What a blast!! I took 88 starlings and 1 pigeon in a couple hours.

Here is the hunting link – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHeMDBbj6EI

The only question is if it works worth a darn. I have one on order.
But I’m a few weeks behind..waiting on parts

I have a crummy backup camera..wireless sytem in truck, it is pointed at trailer hitch rather than the road. Sure makes hooking up to the boat trailer a breeze.

Looks like a cool add on..if it works well, it could be used for several things. Sharing the gun view with pal…hooked up to the dvr in your pocket..so you could use the 4.3″ lcd screen all the time and turn on the dvd only if you want to record.. The guy with the Vuzix 920 could still have his own camera and switch, play spotter…then switch to scope view to watch the shot…

It just adds another level of cool-ness to YOUR system

If it works worth a darn…?

MrNewbie – DUUUUDDDEEE that is an awesome add-on!!

I have seen a few others that were big and clunky and didn’t dig deeper! Thanks for the link. You will see in an upcoming hunting video with my boys that we left the screen on like the Rolaids NV1.0 so others could see from the side. This is much better!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Nice work Roland,

Hope to put some of this in action myself in the hopefully not to distant future..

Yes, KPC-E190 on the camera….

I have a thought, “DANGER WILL ROBINSON”..a thought?

Why not share the fun…

Splitter to screen, other to transmitter. Reciever on Vuzix 920

Looks like fun..for your hunting buddy or spotter.

WOW …and can I see the 5000 yard gun? ๐Ÿ˜†

Did you mean E190 on that camera? If so – thats my spotter cam.

Your doing a darn good job on this…

Your spending money ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜† Just look at all those cool camera and nv toys..

I have been following your build..and you are right “I can do that”.

I opted for the J190 camera w 12mm..same screen, same battery pack, same mounting rail…mostly your suggested stuff. I must say this little J190 camera does a good job. I know..no osd, but its pretty darn good.
I’m in trouble, I followed your link to Airgunforum.uk.
Now I’m modding a 5mw green laser pointer up to 300mw. All parts have been ordered…
Overkill to say the least..we shall see how it turns out..Should be good out to 5000 yards… ๐Ÿ˜†

Thank You…fun stuff
