safest way to drain my tank?
getting a kick ass bn valve for my TSS and was wondering what was the best way to drain the tank down as to perform the surgery without blowing myself up? Should I turn the power wheel all the way down and just shoot it down?
also should I put anything on the threads that enter tank?

I’ll second the nylon-insert lock nut. I use a 3/8″ nylon nut, and you can definitely see the tophat deforms the nylon, proving to me that I’m glad I didn’t use a regular nut or a dime.

The way i drain the tank is pretty much the same as the yellow ninja, read it on this site, http://www.stealthresource.org/home.htm, which is also posted on this site somewhere in quick reference i think.

I use a coin… BUT the best way is to get a nylon nut and use that so it wont marr the tophat.
You have to keep an eye on the tank, Screw the fill adapter with coin/nylon nut in it until air just starts to escape, then as the pressure decreases the air comes out faster and you’ll need to unscrew the fill adapter a little bit a few times during the process to stop the air coming out too fast.

drop a dime down into your fill adapter and SLOWLY screw your bottle into the adapter. Somebody else will have to answer about the putting anything on the threads….
