Q:

SAFETY – Bolt Interlock

Didn’t want to hijack the other SAFETY thread, so here goes…

There’s a pic on the ‘Tank Angled’ thread http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4738&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20 depicting a through-bolt (bolt interlock) style safety. Based on the external portion of the bolt in the pic – assuming it is indeed a bolt – it looks like its somehow retaining sear part #172.

I, for one, much prefer that style of safety to any other and am wondering the best way to construct a similar safety?

A few questions:

  • 1. Is the bolt retaining the top portion of the sear?
    2. Was the sear modified to accept a through-bolt?
    3. Does the bolt instead retain the trigger-2-sear breakpoint?
    4. Does the safety impede the hammer?
    5. Other ideas?

I find the OTS Condor safety less than optimal and would love to see a well designed through-bolt safety either for sale or as a home mod project.

Thoughts, comments, ideas on constructing such a safety?
