Q:

Safety catch on barrel

Hi, has anyone had trouble with the catch that sticks into the barrel to stop the hammer when cocked presumably. MIne wouldn’t sit down to allow me to change hammers etc. So I tried adjusting the trigger mechanism and I wish I hadn’t, I’ve now got lots of spare springs and bits and the gun is off to a gunsmith to have put back together again! (hopefully!)

There must be a technique for avoiding this problem I had with the metal catch thing in the barrel jamming / fouling the breach and hammer. What was I doing wrong? Any feedback on technique for avoiding problems when changing hammers etc gratefully received.

Hi Tony, I sent the gun to an expert and it is fixed now but I’d be very interested in your views on what went wrong, what I was doing wrong and how I might avoid it happening again.

Its the old style Tony with red tab safety. Its actually a brand new gun but its been sitting in a box somewhere for a couple of years as I appreciate it shouldn’t still have the red tab and the date on the cylinder is 2013! But in UK we have trouble getting the guns… I do have another which has the new style slide safety.

How old is your rifle?
New style or old with the red tab safety?
Tony
