Santa came early
Here is my .25 R3m.
I see what people mean about the action, but I don’t think its a deal breaker. The gun feels great, very excited to get to learn it.Now I have to pick out a scope and rings and wait for spring.
Does anyone have a good link for first plane vs second plane scopes?

I should be receiving back my Nikko 10-50×60 scope I had on my condor and will have to use that for now. I think I’m going to use Burris signature rings, do any of you know what height I will need for the objective to clear?
I have found what I consider to be the altimate air gun scope in FFP the only problem is I can’t afford it. If memory serves me right in April of 2014 the March Tacticle 3-24 x42 FFP will be offered with a 52mm bell and still retain a small light weight package. Owe it to yourself just to check them out.
How hard should the shroud be to get off? It almost seems like I need strap wrench or something? I should have plenty of strength to get it off on my own if its suppose to unscrew by hand, but its not budging?
Just got 12 tins of jsb exact kings and they weigh out nice compared to some kodiaks I had laying around. Had my scale out from some casting and decided to weigh a few , five jsb’s in row weighed 25.4, and all five the kodiaks were off by 1/10gn non two the same. Five isn’t many, but it was just a quick check.
Also got my male QD for the fill probe so I can continue to shoot into a tree not far from my door.
I was able to get my shroud to unscrew by hand… it was hard to break free but I finally got it with two hands.
I just ordered a falcon menace 5.5-25x56mm Mil/Mil IR FFP scope from SWFA. they say it focuses down to 10yds and is rated for .338 lapua. may be an option for my edguns and pb guns. Midway also has a ~$250 BSA FFP scope if you just want to experiment with FFP without breaking the bank.
I should know early next week how it performs.
there is another thread on here that talks about them. “shooting at 200yds” is the title i think.

Looking at all the suggestions, tough choices. Do any ffp’s offer 50 or+mm objective, illuminated reticle and close range parallax?

I started buying MIL/MIL a few years back but those who are accustomed to MIL/MOA can do this in their heads on the fly no problem myself included as I’ve been doing it for a few decades.
I would much rather take the little bit of difference in the precision (.36″ per click versus .26″ per click at 100 yards) than try to do the conversion math on the fly when looking at the reticle through the scope.
I have an extra brand new Hawke Tactical 30 8.5-25. Maybe I will find someone to trade with me for SWFA 3-15 FFP plus little cash.

You gotta pay to play, and your system is only as good as your weakest link
Agreed! No airsoft knockoffs for me!
might as well add bipods ๐
Some can’t afford the expensive glass after dropping 2k on the rifle….duh! ๐
While many refer to this as side focus, parallax adjustment is the need and parallax isn’t generally an issue inside of 100 yards with centerfire cartridges. The MIL/MOA is something many are accustomed to and for dialing elevation and windage 1/4MOA clicks are more precise than 1/10MIL. Most good scopes with MIL/MIL configuration are designed to be used on centerfire rifles not PCP’s with the other utility having a spotter that utilizes a MIL/MIL observation device at distances beyond 100 yards.
Oh, and on a side note… what is up with people using cheap $200 scopes and scope rings on their high end $2k+ air rifles?
My Dad already got his in last week for his .25 Cricket and I got to look through it. The glass is very clear and the overall build quality of the scope seems excellent. One thing that I liked about this scope is since it has a mil dot reticle, it also has the turrets in 1/10th mils. It seemed like most of the scopes that would focus down to 10 yards or less use a mil dot reticle with MOA turrets…. which makes no sense. Also, someone on snipershide is now selling zero stops for these http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-rifle-scopes/224272-zero-stops-swfa-super-sniper-scopes.html. I was comparing this scope with the hawk 30 tactical, and if you compare the two reticles, the Hawk has 5 mildots from the center going down where the SWFA has 10 mildots. If you are going for longer range shots, this should be an advantage for the SWFA as alot of people seem to run out of mil dots for distance shots with their Hawk scopes. I am excited to give this scope a try in the field. It has been a high of zero degrees for the last few weeks, so hopefully it starts to warm up here soon!

Please let me know how you like it. I am considering the same scope too.

Iยดd say X-high. Burris heights are like a hight-and-a-half lower than every other brands. Go figure …
