They are expensive but with that said I bought a Volquartsen trigger for my 10/22 that is total crap and about the same $$. I’d drop the $$ twice over for another Jewell trigger any day of the week knowing the quality of the product first hand.

Savage want sell you or a gunsmith the lighter springs. I have a Spring maker making me a 1000 of each spring in the lighter configurations.
The Savage Target Trigger is not as light (6oz) and has more creep than the Rifle Basix Sav-2 set at its best (4oz). The rifle Basix Sav-2 set at its lowest settings is not safe but for Target shooting applications and that with care, ADs can occure. If you have the Rifle Basix Sav-2 set at its lowest settings it will fire with pushing the safety off and on several times. This makes the safety useless.
The Rifle Basix Sav-1 Trigger can be set down to about 12oz and is safe in comparison.
The Sharp Shooter Supply Competition trigger can be set down to about 12 oz. It requires some modifications to work on the accutrigger models.
Jewell Triggers has a trigger designed for Savages. It requires some fitting and due to liability and manufacturing cost they have shelved the product. My suggestion is for Savage owners to call and e-mail them vigerously and encourage them to market the Savage Triggers. There was some rumor that they were going to let Fred Moreo (SSS) have a sole distributorship of the Jewell for Savage actions. Something fell through and the rumor did not come to be.
Timney makes a Savage trigger. I just wish it was made of better materials. It is lightweight in construction. I have not been able to get one to stay under 4-6oz and last an entrie season of F-Class shooting.
If you know more than this please let me know. I am always looking for a better Savage Trigger.

Don’t know if they make it for the gun or not. Just look up JEWELL and you’ll find it.
It’s a drop in mod. Just pop out the old trigger and put the JEWELL trigger in. The JEWELL is incredibly crisp and smooth. It was much much much better than the factory remington trigger.

I have the 12BVSS in .223 and love it, although it is quite heavy. If you’ve never tried the Accu-Trigger, you’re going to be in for a nice surprise.
I bought a 12BVSS in .223 just before Savage started selling them with the accutrigger. I bought a trigger from Brownells made by a company called Rifle Basix, and put a leupold vx-ii 4-12 (which was a brand new line at the time) with leupold single piece base and rings. The gun is amazingly accurate and really nice looking, I found a sling at a local gun shop, which was taken off a consignment gun, made from leather with rattlesnake skin topside and wool on the underside-I have never seen another sling like it and I HAD to have it. What is shocking to me is how accurate the gun is, yet when the action is removed from the stock it becomes apparent how crudely the gun is manufactured-lots of machining marks and such. But MAN DOES IT SHOOT GOOD! I don’t handload but I found a factory load that is awesome, it is a Winchester USA brand, 40 rounds per box, I believe a 45gr bullet with a funny crimped looking hollowpoint. CRAZY accurate. I still have a case of it left and have not shot the 12BVSS in a couple years. This particular rifle I built as a budget rifle for squirrel shooting, about $1200 total, and it has ended up being a really prized posession of mine. I don’t know if a 700 with a jewell and a vari-x III would shoot any better (which was my alternative if not trying to save $$). Give the savage a try I say.

Rob is right, for an out of the box trigger, the accutrigger is definitely awesome.
And yes, the JEWELL is incredible, all the way from 2oz to 3lbs it stays super crisp. Sorry synopsys, you’ll never like anything else. 😀 How are those rifles treating you? Shot that RUM yet? 😀 Guy is selling a 300 RUM blaser barrel and bolt head for $700 on the classifieds. I’m trying hard not to buy it, I miss that caliber. 😀
But speaking of triggers, and just because no one else will care when I tell them, I spoke to a guy at blaser today and he explained to me exactly how to adjust the trigger. It has a hole in the side so you can actually see what your adjustments are doing. It now feels like breaking a thin glass rod when you fire. Nicest trigger ever!! 😀 😀 😀

Only complaint is that it will get way too light without bump firing… 😆 Thanks to Lama I am now spoiled and any other trigger is just uncivilized… 😆
The feel of the trigger does take some getting used to…. but comparing it to most out of the box firearm triggers, it’s one of the best.
Definitely try out that trigger if you haven’t before. I absoulutely hate it. 😆 I really don’t like the feel of that extra piece in the middle. I like my triggers a bit more… plain.

To keep the Silver theme, I’d suggest a Mueller Eradicator 8-25×50 scope in silver. Nice glass for the money.

I have the 93R17 BTVS, 17HMR, Heavy Target Barrel, and its incredibly accurate. I can paint 1″ at 100 yards all day long with 5 shot groups.
The accutrigger is great, very crisp and predictable. My only criticism is that the magazine is not very smooth to install. I bought the gun for the weight since target shooting and blind hunting allow me to leverage the stabilizing effect of its mass.
