Q:

Scope for bobcat 30 cal

So I got lucky and put my deposit down early enough to get me a bobcat in 30 cal. Now I gotta scope it… Thinking either bushnell 6500 2.5x14x50 mil dot. Or possibly a hawke tactical.. Looking for something that will adjust down to 10 yards and clear Looking for suggestions…. I have. A royal 500 with a 6.5x20x42 tactical and like it so that’s y I’m thinking the hawke just want something with a bigger objective. What would u put on the bobcat if you had one..

Naaah – i´ll stick to other brands instead. I´ve had it with Hawke. 👿

Hawke Varmints suck. I sold one I mistakenly purchased. Stick to the Sidewinders or Panorama. 😉

I don´t know about those Hawke´s. The SW needs to be atleast 300% better than its “sister” modell Varmint to be any good. I have a 6-24 Varmint and it´s a real POS-milky optics, the PX is wrong, the clickers are not trackable and the POI is drastically changed between different zoom levels. I know others with the same problem. It´s currently back to Hawke to get fixed so we´ll see how it behaves once it gets back to Papa.
I sincerely hope the SW has much, MUCH better build quality but in all honesty i´ll stay away from Hawke from now on. Hawke has marvellous reticles though, i hand them that much.
I´m on a market for a new scope for my rimfire rifle and i´ve been looking at Clearidge and Delta Optics (Delta may be unknown for you Yanks though). Anyone know a source to grab a good deal on a Clearidge ??

Sorry for hi-jacking but i just had to ventilate my anger … 😡

It took me six months to get my Elite back from Bushnell actually fixed. The story is long and painful.

I have read about bushnells CS and how it sucks…. thats whats pushing me towards the hawke. i gotta make me a decision quick so i got a scope when she arrives i like that sr pro too now that i c it in your pic

I only paid $431 and free shipping for my two 8-32×56 SR Pros even though Hawke has the price fixed at $499. If you shop around you can find a deal.

10 Yard increments that’s a great idea! Easy to remember too.

It varies by gun and pellet. I use 24x with the Matador and Predator pellets. Use Chairgun Pro to help you make the determination. I sight in for the optimal range (44 yards) and then 24x gives 10 yard per major increment of elevation. The windage marks are 5 and 10 mph (assuming 90 degrees the entire flight path) at each increment and range. Chairgun does a good job of estimating. Kings have a better BC and I typically use them beyond 100 yards. I only need to know the range and no longer need a cheat sheet on the reticle. Its deadly close. 🙂

What the actual reticle looks like

Brant what magnification do you usually keep your scope on for backyard plinking?

I own 4 Hawke Sidewinders with the 1/2 mil dot reticles but my two newest Hawke Sidewinders on the Matador and Cricket have the new SR Pro reticle 8-32×56. For airguns I will never go back. In fact I may sell my 1/2 mil dots at this point and upgrade to the SR Pros.

I have a Bushnell Elite that broke and Bushnell has the worst customer service I have ever encountered for a scope manufacturer. Compared to Leupold and Hawke they are horrible.

What would i put on a Bobcat if i owned one ?? Let´s see … Another stock … 😆

Why you don’t go with Hawke Sport Optics Sidewinder 30 8-32×56 AO Rifle Scope, Ill. 20x 1/2 Mil-Dot Reticle, 1/4 MOA, 30mm Tube?
