Scope for my matador.
Ok guys I have a leapers 4-16×50 scope with illuminated red/green radical….now do you guys think this is an “ok” scope to have for my upcoming matador….it’s done very well on my past rifles and its been on a few of my springers….the scope was only $80.

I’ll hang on to my scope for now and run some pellets through the gun and see how she holds up…the scope has been very good for my shooting style and really was just asking to see if the hawke was like a edgun match for great groupings at a fair distance…thanks for the positive input guys I really apreciate it…maybe I can buy my ipad mini with the cash I was holding on for the scope…lol
I have a 4-16×50 Hawke on my Royale and I put a 6-24×56 Sidewinder on my Edgun. The Sidewinder is a lot clearer at 50 yards and better in lower light situations
When I had my first Matador, probably the R1 in those days, I used my 4 – 16 UTG to prune bagworms off a tree that was 100 feet tall, and was 75 feet from my deck.
I was able to cut 1/4″ branches off with three to four shots, all of which hit their mark. The bagworm branches dropped to the ground, and I was amazed at the Edgun accuracy.
Here’s the point…a good gun and a good scope will outshoot most marksmen. “Good” is not always the most expensive. “More powerful” is not always more useful, or even desirable.
Use what works for you, not someone else.
An ultra thin reticle may be desirable for long range target shooting, but is not always useful for other types of marksmanship. Especially when lining up a shot on game, I have found an ultra-thin reticle not to be an advantage.
Don’t be too quick to spend money on “improvements” that may be of no significance to your type of shooting.

Shoot with it for a while and ask yourself if having a different scope would actually make a difference in your ability to hit what you’re aiming at.
Once you get to know your rifle and scope after spending a lot of time with her I’ll bet you won’t find another scope necessary
Well the thing is that I have the money for. Hawke but the point is do I really need to spend the money…I’m going to be plinking and shooting small game from under 50yrds..Granted I have a $2000+ gun but do I need a $400+ scope to have the gun shoot great or is that why I paid so much because the gun can already do that

You must be kidding. Put $80 scope on $2k Edgun. The crosshair is just too thick to see the same hole your matador can shoot. Go to get a Zeiss or better for you. Cabela has one on sale. Zeiss Conquest 1″ Riflescopes

I have a 30mm 3 – 12 X 42 UTG on my Daystate Air Ranger and it is clear at all powers, crisp, bright, no distortion, side focus, mil-dots.
That is not the case with the higher powered scopes, at least the ones in my price range. At higher powers they all distorted and got “dim”.
Unless you are going to get into 100 yard shooting, I think that power in a scope is dandy…as long as the optics are clear, bright, and crisp. Accuracy has never been in question, so unless you happen to have $400+ bucks to spend on a Hawke, why change?
My scope cost about $109 and I couldn’t be happier.

Your scope will be good enough for plinking and small quarry hunting at 50 yrds. If you already like the scope you won´t like it less when attached to an Eddie. You´ll learn whether it´s holding you and your new gun back or not and if it is then it´s time for a new,better one. Just MHO ..
That said i´ll stick to my 10×44 MTC Viper for hunting/plinking and to Hawke Varmint 6-24×44 for long range target practice 😛
