Simple Scope Level
I was setting up my scope the other day.
I remembered I had a Stanley line level to clip on a string line.
I used this item to help build level fences.
However I had also just recently seen a proper scope level made very similar.

So whats the difference? One has a flash peice of shock cord holding it on!!
I just use a rubber band. Lol
There are heaps of line levels out there, just pop it on a spirit level to check if its accurate!!

This is another simple way to level a scope, you need a set of Automotive type feeler gauges, one with the individual blades. This method is recommended by Lowlight, NightForce, and Vortex.
This method may cost a bit more, but it is the most quick and simple way to level/square the reticle with the bore.

Good idea,I use an old boat level. Like all simple ideas, not everyone thinks of it. Should be in the ref’ section 😎

Funny that you said all the rails are level. Actually, I have a new Talon SS and the fore rail was not level to the top scope rail. Not sure what AF claim but this is my particular finding on this new rifle. I also checked level, infront of the breach slide (where the cocking knob ends). This matched the front rail (forward of carry handle rail). I use feeler guages but not to seat rings on the rail. Used a 1″ stock aluminum (ring alignment tool) to tighten rings onto rail. Feelers are used to set gaps in rings when tightening the scope to rings.
B-Square Air Sport, the final gap was 0.671 or in metric 0.26mm.
Setting up:
I set the rifle level using the fore rail and Breech slide top. Whats wrong with hanging a peice of string, pretty inexpensive. I also optically corrected my scopes using an old set of rings on an unused tri-rail, mounted in a vise. I used some self adhesive vinyl stickers, form fitted (heated & trimmed). The rings were mounted forward of the turrets x2 and hang the turrets clear of the rail base for 360 degree rotation. The trick is to use silicone grease on the rings and scope. Torque the rings up for stable hold with rotation. Elaborate but quite accurate. I also made a ring alignment tool out of 1″ stock. This was very handy. Again elaborate but I can’t wait to find out how this all field tests. It was pretty accurate before.
