Q:

Scope lubrication

Can scopes be lubricated? The power ring on my Accushot turns with considerable resistance, which applies pressure to the side of the rail. I’m affraid when I adjust the power I also change the POI. Is there a way to lubricate the power adjustment ring? Is anybody else experiencing the same problem?

Rich,
You can pull off the focus knob. As I recall there is a set screw there that needs to be loosened. Under is a cam and seal. You can lube it all up with silicone. Might take a while to ease up. I’d silicone spray it then grease it. When you replace the cap try to ensure it is on square.

I was thinking little sillicon base lubricant around the edges might do relieve some of the tension. Any othe opinions.

On just about any other gun I would say not to worry about it.

But I have the same worry with my Accushot. Even changing focus seems to tweak things a bit.

Not sure if lubrication is possible as the resistance is coming from inside the scope.
