scope magnification
trying to figure out what scope i am going to order when i pick up a condor.
question is, what magnification are people using that are shooting out to 150 yards and beyond? i know i wont be shooting that far right away but want to pick a scope that will still work well as my skills improve.
i have been reading lots and it seems like leapers scopes are hit and miss and that bushnell 3200’s are a safe bet.

what range are you shooting out to?
I like the Bushnell Legend 5-15x mildot. I rarely use magnification above 10x, even at long range. That is just preference. Too much magnification and too much range and I can’t see where I’m hitting!
The Hawke Airmax 4-12x MAP6 is also ok but does not provide as many aim points as mildot.

If you tuned your Condor to shoot Kodiaks at 980 FPS with a standard zero of 50 yards, this would be a pretty accurate representation of hold over using a mildot reticle.
As you can see, magnification greater than 10x really becomes useless beyond 130 yards. You’d then be using the top of the post rather than a dot. Unless, of course, you zero for greater distances.
I have shot beer bottle sized targets out to this distance. Once hold over and wind drift are figured out it’s do-able.
FWIW, you could do 20X and still have the POI in the bottom of the optics at 150 yards, but you lose the dots.
