scope???????

First, you should go back and read the optics section, there are a lot of discussons about different scopes

second forget about all the dressings and scopes that can text and have an alarm clock .

You want to invest in a scope that does what its suppose to everytime.

The only way I would say to get a 36x scope is if your going to shoot field target, which you cant with the condor because its to powerfull and not allowed .

You shouldnt have any trouble hitting a 1-2 inch target at 100 yards with a 15 or 18 x scope. I can do it with a 10x scope.

Id highly recommend a a better quality scope with less magnification

such as the Bushnell elite or a Leupold with quick relase mounts.

You could swap scopes on any rifle you own in a minute .

When your pellet strike is off, to need to know why. it could be you, your rifle or your scope. You need to eliminate all the possibitys by buying excellent pellets, an excellent rifle, and an excellent scope and excellent mounts.

once you rule out why your shot was off you can make propper ajustments to your shooting.

Another thing is weight. big scopes weigh a lot ,.

if you buy a cheap scope, I will garrentee that sooner or later your going to realize you need a better quality scope. save yourself some dough, skip that step and buy a good one out of the gate. Listen to what the guys are saying.

well, what is the reason for building the rifle? long range target, or plinking or hunting?? roachcreeks got a point in that the “lesser” scopes are poorly made and they have alot of probs on the extreme side of their magnification level. also youre losing alot of field of view w/a higher mag scope… meaning you wont be able to see much around the target…in other words your sight picture will be very small, and you’re gonna see every little move your body makes at higher levels of magnification. Mil-Dots are good to have, if you know how to use them properly (not saying you cant), and they are MOST effective at 10x magnification because most scope builders set it up that way. not saying Mil-Dots wont work at higher mags, but the conversions different so there’s more math involved (i hate math…). and you wrote that you were getting a 54 objective sized lens…consider this: w/lesser glass, that 54 would still look bad when compared to a better made 42… you get what you pay for man, and alot of companies slap these scopes together w/alot of fancy-shcmancy do-dads to get you to buy it…do your research!!!

If you are going to use it for target work only (shooting pea size targets at known distances) great. If you want to hunt with it, I bought a cheapo fixed 4X32 and it works well (simple/light very few moving parts) and I tried a 4-16X50 and it was heavy and seemed useless at the higher mag settings. If you want good glass expect to invest about what you have in the gun (Around 1K).

Do your research and see if you can find reviews on this scope from knowledgable people. $245 is very low for such a scope, so most likely it is a “cheap” or cheaply-made scope. The issue with these scopes beside the glass and other imperfections, is that the POI changes when you go from say 12x to 24x, or when you change the magnification from the one that you zeroed the gun with. You do not get that with better scopes.

16 to 24x magnification should be sufficient for hunting and target shooting to 100yds and beyond. Have you also considered the weight factor? A scope like the one you mentioned will easily weigh 2+lbs with the wheel.

Usually on these cheap scopes, if it is fact a cheap scope, the higher powers ranges are blurry and dark and the eye relief critical, so that may limit you to how far you go on the zoom.

I keep seeing these higher power scopes on AG and have decided it must be a sport for the blind. 😆

Perhaps Walmart will come out with a brail model. 🙄
