30 Years ago now,i lost my brother to an accident where he fell through a roof,he was only eleven and still had a world of fun and love in front of him,,it was hes birthday on the 20th of this month, and i cryed yet again for him and all my family, and even tho i understand their loss i cannot understand why they have to punish everyone for an accident, and tho all our love goes out to there family, the only one who was to blame is in jail,we had anger to at the time, but cant blame others for what happened, there accidents, and as horrible as they are, they will not be the last to leave us vier these terrible accidents, please try to understand that if we our selves as a family, were to have had our way,we would all have the way we build our homes done very different to what they are now,and governments love this type of thing, cus it gives them a chance to say we will help, when all along they only help themselves to power and money,so lets please send them all our love for this christmas, but please let us all see some sense along the way please, hope no one here thinks im having a go,’cus thats not my intention at all’,just wish that people would not tar others with the same brush, and hope that others here feel the same way as i do,thanx guys, and were all truely sorry for there loss…….

You see what we have to put up with….?
Mind you, you guys are running hell for leather down that same road too… DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER, DANGER……. 😆

quote fastfreddy:

I wonder if they would entertain the idea of compensation for the turned in weapons.

You get to stay out of jail… 😉

That is brutal and typical of small minded leaders, we have a few around here in the U.S. that would love to do the same I’m sure.

I wonder if they would entertain the idea of compensation for the turned in weapons.

😯 One person dies and everyone loses their airgun rights?

How Californian!! 😆

Scotland expected to ban air rifles
This is what they are saying:

By Andrea McCallum

A NEW agreement between Westminster and Holyrood could see air rifles being banned from Scotland’s streets.

Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy secured the deal, which sees the authority over the weapons being transferred to the Scottish Government.

The decision comes four years after Scots tot Andrew Morton was gunned down just yards from his Glasgow home.

His parents Sharon and Andy – who have been campaigning for the weapon ban since Andrew died – have welcomed the deal.

Sharon said: “This is the best Christmas present we ever could have wished for.

“This might not be the end, but I feel we have turned a corner and it’s certainly the beginning of the end.

“I feel we are fulfilling the promise to Andrew that we made at his graveside, and that is for a total ban on airguns in Scotland.”

Andy, 35, said: “All the political parties have now accepted the principle that this is an issue which should be decided at Holyrood.

“And at Holyrood, all the parties have supported us. If this ban goes through, we will be rid of the 500,000 airguns on Scotland’s streets.

“As far as I am concerned, you can call it Andrew’s Law.”

Details of the deal are in the UK Government’s White Paper responding to the Calman Commission that is to be published soon.

But the Scotland Office refused to confirm the deal.

A spokesman said: “The UK Government will set out its response to Calman very shortly. Air weapons will be dealt with as part of that.”

Mark Bonnini – who murdered two-year-old Andrew when he stopped in the street to look at a fire engine – was jailed for at least 13 years.

And since the tragedy, UK legislation of airguns has been tightened so that the minimum age to own an airgun is now 18, mail orders have been banned and all retailers must be registered.

The new legislation is unlikely to become law before the General Election due to be held next year.

Murphy told the Commons a new Labour government would introduce a new Scotland bill quickly after the next election to give Holyrood new powers on income tax rates, borrowing, stamp duty land tax, the landfill tax, drink drive and speed limits, and criminalising possession of air guns.
