Scuba tank hot fills/How long to cool before topping off?
I always just took it in and waited. Never gave much thought to the fact that I wasn’t getting a full 3K fill. I read Walters comment about it dropping so much and thought WTF?! From now on I’ll drop it off and come back. The problem is, my shop is out of town. So, how long should/would I need to leave it there before coming back and having them “top it off” before leaving? Thanks guys.

my local F/D has the same and will fill for a hand shake and a thank you…… now if I’d just quit being so damn cheep I’d get a tank again 😕
Well the shop I go to just bought a $25,000 dollar compressor. AFAIK they cascade into multiple 6K tanks. So N.P. there.
For CF tanks my local shop waits about 30 min. between fills. I drop off, run some errands, then pick up later.
The shop owner claims she hates (with a wink) filling my tanks. She has to run her compressor while charging which adds more “undo” hours on her equipment? I usually bring her a cold Gatorade to make nice. 
I know that my tank is down to about 2800 psi by the time I get home from the dive shop. Its a 20 minute ride. If they will co operate I would have them fill it and then try again in an hour. I use mine for dives as well and we have to record the actual pressure for the dive computer. I have never seen my tank near 3000 psi

I guess that is the difference between Arizona and NJ. I gottta get out of here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙄
