what are the liabilitys and responsibility of the seller ?? just dont want to create a big stirring problem for myself and the airgun community. thanks denny

Frankly, there is no way to tell. Only adult signature can help.
Ship it through UPS they have a barcode that is ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED and the driver cannot complete the stop until they get an adult signature at that point the driver and UPS are on the hook for the liability and you are not.
There is a difference between SIGNATURE REQUIRED and ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED I used to get both and was with UPS for 14 years after my 6 years with the military that was before the injuries 🙁
The 2 digit code in the middle of the barcode is what will lock the DIAD up (delivery information aquisition device) and they cannot even go to another stop the DIAD won’t let them and they have to get ID 🙂
If it’s alcohol the driver has to make sure the person is 21 at the house so there is quite a bit of responsibility that comes with being a UPS driver.
Go to the website of PA or some other airgun seller and read their requirements for selling. Some of them list states they will not ship to.

Put the age requirement in you ad and have the purchaser send you an email stating that they are over 18… I don’t know if this would protect you but it’s a start…
what about from a legal standpoint how do i know im not selling to a 12 year old ? or sending to a state that does not allow it. just would feel better if im legal. thanks denny p.s. got to make a sale first.
I know it sounds silly to say … but make sure the gun is unloaded for the trip 🙂
Empty the air tanks (if any) and send the package insured with proof of signature (for your own protection). Pack it like it will go to hell and back.
Crow nailed it, make sure you describe it the way it is, the good and bad. Show any blemishes or issues (if any). And leave the ad up until everyone is satisfied, that way there is some proof of your presentation of the goods.
I tend to add a couple of things I didn’t list just to complete the package.
Basically make it a ‘no surprises’ transfer and everyone should be happy!

your duty is to make sure it gets there unharmed exactly as described in a timely manor
if something happens
you need to fix it weather it be an immediate refund or replacement or fixing the gun depending uopn the agreement between you and buyer
but if a refund is requested do so immediatly and then it on you to file a damage claim and wait and fight for your money back

If you say “must be 18 to buy” in the thread, you’re pretty much safe. Anybody who buys it under 18 has lied so it’s out of your hands, adult signature is good too.
The #1 thing when shipping it is if it’s a PCP, EMPTY THE AIR TANK!!!!! If you don’t, it’s considered a bomb and they really don’t like shipping bombs.
