Q:

Shipping an Airgun

So if I want to ship my pressurized Talon tank, do I need to depressurize it?

If so, how is this done?

I will only ship tanks via Ground, never Air…. I use the dime trick to depressurize SLOWLY and then I charge to 500psi to prevent dust and dirt getting into the tank. I use the AF valve protector also to prevent the valve from becoming damaged. http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/AirForce_protective_steel_valve_cap/924

You have to empty when you ship it or pay for it to be shipped as hazardous material. Just like an scba tank or anything with that kind of pressure no matter what is in the tank air or otherwise.

Oh. Whatever, I already emptied it out. I did happen to come across the dime trick in the manual a few minutes ago. Worked just fine.

You only need to take the air out if it’s going to be overnighted via AIR MAIL.

Other than that sending guns with full tanks is no problem.

Nice. Thanks assman.

Yep so the penny pushes the tophat in, just do it slowly. The pressure thing, I have no idea, I have always let the air out when I have shipped and received them back empty with no problems.

I think I get it. So stick a penny in the adapter so the flat side is pressing against the tophat while I screw the tank in?

Another question – In the video, Tom Gaylord says the tank is supposed to stay pressurized. Is it a big deal if it’s not pressurized for a few days? I actually received my gun with pressure already in it from AOA a few years back.

Put a coin in your fill adapter and slowly screw the tank in.
