shoebox psi adjustment???
What up TAG!
Anyone got ideas for how far to move the bronze bearing on the second stage piston to increase the output psi of my shoebox? Right now I am getting about 4200-4300psi max. I would like to, just because it can, get the 4500psi so I can fill my air tank full.

I assume your talking about the brass bushing the spring connect to..Correct ?
Isn’t that on the 1st..low pressure stage?
Anyhow…the easies simplest way to do it..is just to slap a rubber band on-top of the spring..
I do this when its time to fill the 4500psi guppy, otherwise it turns off around 4200psi, I tried to adjust the brass spring tensioner..and it was flaky at best.
Fill it till it shuts off..slap a rubber band over spring on it..Stick around and keep a close eye on it.
Mine is erratic at best once I forgot I had it running out in the garage I didn’t check on it as I usually do and later that day it dawned on me to go check it, I go out there and its running like a top at 6000 psi in my 4500 psi bottle I about crapped as Im turning it off hoping nothing blows. So even if you think you got it right check it and never leave it unattended.

my 3500 psi tank is down to 700 psi, my 4350 psi tank still has more than 3300 psi in it….last time i got them filled is 4 years ago before my first kid was born….that and moving to CA bay area where everyone thinks your a terrorist for plinking in the backyard…i need a better muffler especially for the cRapid
I dont’ have a problem with the purchaseing department, but the purchase order seems to always come with the memo, “when funds are avaliable”. 😆
Nice feature. I was just barely able to get approval from my purchasing department for the ‘shoebox max’ 4500psi. Namely the wife.
That adjustment is not a precise adjustment, and was not designed to be. And it will vary on almost every fill as t where it shuts off.
You do it by trial and error, but there are also other ways to raise the power shutoff. As the oring wear down towards needing replacement the fill level will drop also.
One of the best ways I found to get a higher fill was to lower the first stage pressure, meaning turn down your shop compressor about 5 to 10 PSI, that will allow you to go a little higher with the shut off.
One of the things I really love about the Freedom 8 is the electronic shutoff, mine shuts off at 4650 PSI each and every time.

Lucky that 4500psi 88 cf scba bottles are tested to 7200 psi! 😯
