Q:

Shooting rest advice

I am thinking about buying a shooting rest. I have found three that fit my pathetic budget… Below is what I am looking at:

– Gamo Air Rifle Rest, Fully Adjustable
http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Gamo_Air_Rifle_Rest_Fully_Adjustable/2242

– Caldwell Zero-Max Rifle Shooting Rest
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=726222

– SURE SHOT BENCH REST SHOOTING RIFLE SCOPE GUN VISE
http://cgi.ebay.com/SURE-SHOT-BENCH-REST-SHOOTING-RIFLE-SCOPE-GUN-VISE_W0QQitemZ120506928280QQcategoryZ73960QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D10%26ps%3D63

Does anyone use any of these? Are these good choices or should I keep looking?

Thanks

I have the last one, a Sure Shot, got it from the same place (e-bay) and after a lot of tries I discovered that the pellet packaging from Pyramyd, when cut in half, makes an excellent shim for holding my Condor in the vice part.

i made my own “sandbag”.

i fill it when i need it and empty it when not in use.

A front rest or bipod combined with a cheap rear bag should do the trick…

I picked up a set of filled bags at WalMart for less than $20 for the rear bag only…

I have an off brand version of that caldwell. Mine has a little more adjustability. In my little world, a front rest is a front rest and I now use a tripod style front rest. The kids use the full rest with their airsoft guns.

My 2cents…
I won’t buy another full rest until my budget covers one that I can sit the gun and let go (if only to open a pellet tin). I only have one rifle that will do this in the caldwell style rest and I don’t trust this rest to support a $1100 gun . The AF guns (even if you bend the rest’s rear supports to fit) will just rotate.

The tripod front rest leaves enough room on the table to lay my guns on their side.

The last one posted looks (to me) like it might work a little better. I like the look of the Gamo but I have never used one. I would try one if someone convinced me it would hold any gun it was adjusted for.

I use a caldwell lead slead for all guns

I have the first one (Gamo), it is exelent build, I use it to adjust my new optics. 😉
