Q:

Short Edgun…is there that much difference???

Pay attention!

Sixty shots at 210 bar/3045 psi fill, JSB 18.1 domed Exacts. Model F-1 Shooting Chrony, full daylight. Shot count/fps/fps/deviation results only.
(I’d show the target, but what’s the fun in looking at one hole???)

Note the fps change at roughly 170 bar/2500 psi, when I suddenly jump from the upper 800 fps, to the low 900+ fps, and stay in the 900+ fps for the next 50 shot!!!???

At 100 bar/1450 psi, the fps drops back to upper 800 fps, and I quit there.

It would seem that a 1000 psi “sweet spot” exists in this Shorty, from 2500 to 1500 psi, giving 50 solid 900+ fps shots, with roughly a 15 fps deviation.

T’aint bad for a Short Edgun!

Start
876 917 915 910 919 910
867 918 916 911 909 914
867 918 916 916 909 909
874 918 916 907 920 908
871 905 915 906 905 909
863 906 918 908 914 909
871 903 908 915 915 909
873 912 903 913 915 903
863 912 903 912 909 909
852 915 911 914 916 904 – End at 1500 psi.

Now, I’m no rocket surgeon, so any comments or advice would be appreciated. Should I fill to 2500 psi and leave it at that? I’m not particularly keen on adjusting the fps much higher than it is in the sweet spot. Accuracy and noise being the chief consideration.

Besides, 919 @ 18.1 gr = 33.76 fpe. I can live with that.

I tried a psi fill at 2500 and the velocity stayed in the 800+ range, with a LOT of fps deviation. I believe a 200 bar/3000 psi fill is what this rifle demands, and that’s what its going to get.

For now, I believe I will follow Ed’s advice, shoot it, and see what my results are. The only real problem I had with the initial fill at 200 bar was all the shots kept going in one small ragged hole. (seriously) So I couldn’t really tell how the fps deviation affected accuracy. Of course I was shooting at 33′, from a sitting position, elbows on knees. But still, that’s no excuse for ALL 60 shots entering that same 0.255 ctc hole. A little embarrassing is what it is!

How the hell does Eduard expect us Americans to properly tune a rifle if all our shots keep going in the same hole on the target? 😆

The only thing I have adjusted is the trigger, and have it where I really like the first stage take-up and second stage release.

My neighbors are still a pain in the butt! I followed prior advice and turned on my deck’s speakers today and listened to “Golden Oldies” music while I was shooting. So far not a word from the trouble makers.

Windy here today, so I’ll wait to see accuracy beyond 33′. Hopefully at 50 yards I’ll begin to see some shot spread. If not, I don’t know what I’ll do. Just shoot the damn thing I guess, and quit trying to tune it!

I still have that disease but, the wind has had it in remission for 3 days now. (Hello, my name is Tedd and I am a groupaholic!) 😆

It looks like I won’t be able to have a relapse till at least Friday! 🙁

I just got over that disease. The cure is to shoot at something that is NOT paper. 😆

I am afraid, guys, that you got the Russian virus :(, most of them buy the guns not to shoot and have fun but to try to make it better then the producer have made them, in most cases they made them worse, but there are someone who can make it a little better, that is quite a dangerous disease 🙁

turning up the hammer spring will fix this curve issue, but it may increase the velocity which could impact accuracy. This is a short gun, not a standard or long verion, it’s very hard to adjust it.

I highly recomend it to test it as it is for now and document everything before making any adjustment. Take your time, do it slow, adjust it little by little and document it, just in case you want to go back the last setting.

Based on the numbers above, it’s seem to be high already, if increase the hammer spring higher, your gun will shoot 2″ group @ 20 yards 😆 😆 😆

Hoot, it looks like your hammer spring needs turned up a little. You should not have a bell curve on a regulated gun. It looks like your hammer doesn’t have enough force to fully open the air valve for the first few shots.

The hammer spring is easy to adjust, remove the trigger guard bolt and then The stock. You will see the adjuster at the lower rear of the gun. It is threaded and faces forward. There is a small locking screw above it that must be loosened first. Then you can turn the adjuster in, for more tension or out for less. I usually turn it about 1/8 turn at a time.

How are those pesky neighbors Hoot ?

Hoot I’d like to see the numbers with a starting fill of 2500psi. I just wounder if the numbers would look the same.

I always wanted to know if it makes a difference.

Will do this afternoon and post results this PM.

I’ll have to see the video on hammer adjustments and that might take a day or two, but I sure can try the 2500 psi/170bar this afternoon.

I am amazed at the power and shot capacity this short barrel and tube had demonstrated. Ed’s regulator is second to none.

Hoot I’d like to see the numbers with a starting fill of 2500psi. I just wounder if the numbers would look the same.

I think I would reduce the hammer strength, and target a max velocity of 890. The curve would look better, and you’d be able to fill ‘er all the way up. My standard matador liked to shoot at 930, and it was fun zipping ’em faster than most guys. But, that speed didn’t have a very good shot string – only gave me 35 consistent shots. So, I lowered the speed to 900, and it shoots 99.9% as good at that speed…and I now get 60+ shots with a fps difference of 15.

Lighten [it] up. If the accuracy is good at 880, you’ll be in great shape.

Man lookin good Hoot!! I would say in my opinion to stay with a fill of 2500 or so trying that out for several strings, because it looks really good when you get in that pressure area, no need to go over 3000 psi for sure! If you are getting that kind of fps on a fill of around 2500 I would just fill to there and have 50 good shots couldn’t ask for more 😯 It is liking that pressure fill for sure you can tell that by the string and very little variation! Looks like you have a weinerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr for sure there Hoot 😆
