Short Mutant .22 vs Compact Cricket .177
I was just curious if any of you with the good barrels have compared the two back-to-back just on accuracy? I did that this afternoon and despite nearly zero wind am giving the edge to the Short Mutant. The caliber/pellet difference may be an issue as may the velocity and even triggers. I was shooting 18.1s at 800 fps in the Short Mutant and 10.34s at 900 fps in the CC. Both are doing 1/2″ groups at 50 yards but the Mutant tends to get them even a little tighter more often. I shot 100 pellets – 10 5 shot groups each. I am not seeing flyers with some mild (just looking for any abnormalities and not weighing them) sorting from either gun.
I can get a 65 yard target setup through the woods but that is about it with the leaves now on and a deep creek (15 ft) in my backyard. I will see if they are any different a bit further out. I have some dead trees further out across the creek but I cant get a target up in them to see yet the birdies seem to love to perch on them. 🙂 One at about 75 yards and the other about 105 yards. They are some favorite hangout spots for the local fauna.

I think I would hold that extra barrel and keep the one you have. Barrels are like a box of chocolates unless they test them thoroughly.
