Q:

SHORT STROKE HAMMER short locktime!

Hi,

Find the locktime TOOOO long, of the Talon / Stealth rifles.

think about a fast light hammer and a bit MORE preload to get a shoter locktime, but also to make the travel of the hammer shorter.

did made the stroke of the hammer from 30 mm now 23 mm.
25% less.

are the more guys who think about the locktime of your rifle???

picture of the normal hammer, and the short stroke ( the long one ).

All input welcome 💡

find in the toolbox a hammer with an extention on the front a bit longer.
now the travel of the hammer is less then 15 mm.
Put a notch in my frame to keep the breech open.

With a little more preload on the spring, it sounds like the normal power output.

Can’t wait to test it, but can’t walk without a crutch, so maybe a guy drive me to the shooting club ith the 50 meter lane, and drop me on a bench.

Yes, sometimes we have TOO much ideas, and now it’s summer so we can go out, and have fun with our rifles.

The project of the fixed tophead, is a bit low, maybe we give it a new boost with a .177 rifle.
We try the reg. and I think it’s a good thing to use but, must rework the valving, still have the problem of the LONG locktime,
thinking of put a O-ring of the breech, ( BS 008 ) on the tophead and slim the breech, for shorter locktime and easy loading.

My goal is to have a sub MOA rifle, and try a lot of things to made the rifle shoot easy, at the moment it’s very sensitive ( for me ) .
I hope I can fix it so it’s more forgiving, for a lousy shot like me. 😳

Some points to work on are: crisp trigger, faster locktime, bit more weight in the front of the rifle, better bi pod.
just orderd the accushot Atlas bipod BT10, and try to fix it on top of the scope rail.

At the moment only thinking about the rifle, because I can’t use one leg for standing for six weeks. 😈
I hope my shooting mate Wim, have some spare time to help me to do some minor things on the lathe.

Looks good woodie but your ideas always seem to be 😀 sounds like you beter take care of yourself! are things going to be ok after you get better?? Haven’t seen much on your old post on valve build, you and a freind of yours were working on one new type valve 😯

Looks good E,
Wishing you the best of health.
Tony

Lucky I ‘m home again, tomorrow get my rifle in my hands. 😀

Dang dude! Sit back and take it easy!!!

don’t see much testing from me, at a short time.

today to the hospital, for a few days ( I hope ), and then six weeks not standing on my left leg.

so I’m a Armchair airgunner for the next 6 weeks, maybe just a little tweaking, of the rifle out of my chair, no standing behind the Lathe 😈

but Will work on a verry fast short stroke LIGHT hammer, and a quick closing valve. still around the 30 to 33 ft/lbs power setting.

my goal is a 1 MOA Stealth 🙄 🙄

Nice I like the idea. Seems like it should create more consistency.

“I think” the rifle shoot better only I’m a lousy shot.

I made a corner on the hammer see pic. so it’s possible to reload with only one hand, can cut of also the rim give a few more mm.

Here a pic. of the last shooting card, only a few stupid flyers, all groups 5 shots at 50 meters.

You can open the breech far enough to insert a pellet now? Oh I see, you hold the breech forward to insert pellet, then let the hammer come back to the sear?

Interesting.

That extended section of the new hammer looks to be around 12mm or so? Wouldn’t that mean your stroke is that same length shorter?

Interesting idea, how does the rifle shoot setup like that?
