Q:

Short vs long

I know all of you guys love the shorty. I bought the long version and it’s getting around 70 shots on the regulator. Has anyone shot both the short and long? And what is the handling difference? I really like the stability of the long. After I got it tuned in its a super quit gun. I still can’t believe its going 930 fps with the 15 gr jsb’s. Is the short more comfortable? Or is it just the compactness that everyone likes? I love mine. Just would like a comparison on the handing. For those who don’t like the stock finish, don’t be afraid to paint it. Even if you don’t want camo, some clear polyurethane will make it feel smoother on the hand.

Mutant Long —Overall length 750 +/- 5mm

Edgun Matador — Overall length 756mm

Thanks for the feedback guys. Honestly I think I’m just trying to talk myself out of buying a shorty too!

I tried to do that with my Crickets ,,,,,,, ,,,,, ,, as you can see from my signature, that didn’t work for me.

I’m thinking of getting a Mutant 22 Standard as well.

From a Compact to a Standard is as long as I’d want to go when thinking Bullpups.
I reckon that is why I never went with a Cricket 25 cal, for me it’s to long and heavy.

Other than maybe getting more shots per fill on the Standard and a wee bit harder to shoot Compact but not hard to master, they’re both good choices.

That is one mighty fine paint job you did on your Standard by the way !!

Congrats, For me it’s the compactness, in an accurate, adjustable power package. Ernest’s review didn’t hurt either. I have one of the first .22 Cricket WST standards that came over and it’s a laser, if I didn’t have the Cricket I’d have gone for the full size Mutant. All reports on the full size are excellent, you scored a nice rig. :thumb:

I thought about the same thing.
I really like how small the shorty is. I bet your gun is very quite as well.
They have done a great job with the pickel.

I like also how the grip feels, it’s not as fat, as the vulcan grip.
The trigger is a work of art.

But I have not shot the longer one also like you.
It would be nice if they could use a little nicer wood.
Maybe with some nice grain on the wood.
But the stock is really not as bad as I thought is was going to be.

I went for the shorty, because it’s the smallest shortest, regged bullpup thats being imported.
