Shorty Delivered Yesterday
My Shorty finally arrived yesterday  She is a brown stocked model with nice bluing and anodizing. It arrived with the HSTA about a turn in from flush and going 850s-860 with 15.9s. I adjusted the trigger since it had no first stage and a bit of creep, then I polished up the HS ends. I put her over the chrony to lower fps down to 820s-830 and the ES started to increase with the lower power settings. :confusedn: Also with my HSTA flush my speed is a little lower than most are reporting, I get 820s-830 with 15.9s at the flush setting? Seems this Shorty likes the speed up for a lower ES, are they all this way ? Seems the reg may need to come out and be cleaned along with replacing the O-rings ? IDK

But If you are satisfied with accuracy I would not touch it :biggrinn:
I found that best air consumption…. 60 shots 230 bar fill on standard….
Regulator set at 135 ish bar…
Tried lowering but efficiency went in the toilet.
Don’t forget the regulator plenum is small on these so u have to raise the pressure to achieve fps …
Hi REARSPROCKET, our guys are buying mainly standard mutants… but they obtained around 950fps with JSB 18grain right of the box. They had set regulator to 140-145bar !!! There were terrible air consumption and almost everyone lower velocity to “standard” 880-900fps with 18grain. They set regulator to 125bar.
But If you are satisfied with accuracy I would not touch it :biggrinn:
Jamie thanks, that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking and I’ve been doing just that and having a blast with it. 😀
Octavius what fps are you guys seeing with the (Shorty) @ 125 Bar and 15.9s maxed out ? :fishinghole:
Here is the Russian O-ring list translated by google and I.
NBR70
21 x 3 Seal the back/front of the tank and plugs gear //\ \ Air Tube
13.5 x 2 Seal valve body on the back of the tank tube //\ \ Main Valve to Receiver
12.5 x 2 Seal the barrel of the receiver //\ \ Barrel receiver O-ring
4.47 x 1.78 (-008) / 5.28 x 1.78 (-009) The seal on the barrel breech //\ \ .177 & .22 Breech O-rings
9.25 x 1.78 (-012) Seal the pressure gauge on the front of the tank tube
4.47 x 1.78 (-008) Seal the filling nozzle
23 x 1.5 / 24 x 1.5 Crimp ring at the store //\ \ snap rings for Main Valve & Mod ?
2.9 x 1.78 (-006) nozzle gear //\ \ Fill O-ring ??
6.07 x 1.78 (-010) The piston gear //\ \ Reg. piston larger
2.9 x 1.78 (-006) The piston gear //\ \ Reg. piston small
12.42 x 1.78 (-014) Reg. piston end cap //\ \ low psi side
Sprocket….. the best way to fig out what your regulator is set at is to test it.
you could do some tuning.. but Why? If your happy with it, leave it alone.
Sounds like yours is set up just right. when that happens i don’t mess with my guns.
My edgun is the same way and i haven’t even cleaned the barrel. i just air it up and shoot it.
Enjoy the gun….
Octavius, There are two marks if you look at the pic, and it’s set at the lower setting. These regs are different from the Cricket regs and will perform at a wider power range without needing adjustment. It’s easy to remove the reg but it’s shooting amazing groups and has a 7-9 fps ES which I think is from the pellets being inconsistent, I’m sure with sorted pellets it would be much tighter. I have it set at 820fps with 15.9s and I’m getting a lot of shots because when it falls off the reg it stays in the 820s for more than another mag. IDK if lowering the reg 12 bar will change much ? I’d hate to lower it and it does nothing to the ES because I will lose the extra shots at 820 and now I can increase the power easily if I want. I wish more people would share their tune settings to see if this reg really needs to be at max speed for the tightest ES, so far everyone has been saying no ? I found using an anti cant bubble level on my scope helps tremendously in stacking pellets, ordered up a better one from SWFA. All I know is this thing is putting them on top of each other at 30 yards and is a BLAST to shoot, :5: I’m very happy with it.
Of course that your shorty likes higher speed when you have set regulator to 137bar. Some guys here have set regulator to 140 and 145bar from factory – mutant standard. This is crazy!!! Everyone did adjustment to lower reg pressure to 125bar.
Ernest,
Thanks so much again, email sent. :thumb:
John
They arrived sweet, now I can remove all the oil and grease. Thanx
John,
email me your address —-> to ship the oring kit!
The whole air tube need to be wipe down with lint free wipes, to much oil and S-grease that travel down the barrel that affect speed. noting worst then over lube pellets.
All the extra lube maybe slowing the actual speed down a bit, I’m guessing with 16g ours will be pecking in the 870’s in no time.
If it does it will be sharing the same reg setting/tuning as mines.
Mines pecks at flush plus 1/4th as well.

Thanks Guys, After talking to Ernest I lowered it down to 840s peaking at 850 with 15.9s and now it’s only a 1/4 turn in from flush. 💡 I’m thinking I need a nylon washer for the HSTA. Greg mine is getting better also with more down the pipe. I think the reason they get better after a few tins is because all the freaking Silicone grease in the reg and AT takes quite while to blast out ? Mine was blasting small clouds of the stuff out the business end for a while and still does sporadically. Now I just need to get the Mamba perched up top and spend some quality time with her. 😉
Congrats, nice little one REARSPROCKET !
My velocity increased as I shot her, about 15 fps.

She looks nice, SPROCKET.
( tennis anyone? )
Soze u sneaky son of a
Those do the job quite well also, like this one here

Thanks for info dman. I suggest our guys try 135bar for better efficiency. THX 😉
