Shroud idea
Okay, I have something in mind I think would come in handy, let me know what you think, better yet if you think you can make it work let me know.
It seems a large number of us have shrouds attached. From what I can gather usually a Tony shroud or a Frame Extender for examples. At the moment I have neither, actually waiting for both.
From the way things sound it seems they both do a fairly good job but I can see myself occasionally wanting something even quieter, you know, for that 2am shot at some pesky animal in the backyard, neighbor has a newborn or is an insomniac gun hating turd who sees and hears everything. Just one shot but needs to be ultra quiet. If you had another shroud to go over the one you have you’d use it, like firing through a down pillow without actually having to do it that way.
Ever tape another shroud on the end of the one you’ve got? I’ve done it but never fired an actual pellet because I wasn’t sure the holes would line up. It was quiet cut in half.
What if we machine a collar/ coupling which would telescope two shrouds end to end. It would be long but I can see myself attaching it for that 2am shot. Further, what if another shroud was telescoped over the existing shroud complete with end cap. It could retract for normal shooting and be extended (telescoped out) for the quick quiet shot. The fit would have to be close between the O.D. of the shroud and I.D. of the outer shroud. Simple masking tape would keep the extended outer shroud from being launched. The exit hole of the outer shroud could be bored out even bigger if there were alignment concerns.
What do you guys think? Anyone feel like machining this one up. Ideas?
Sam

Adding a silencer to the shround would be as easy as drilling and tapping the endcap (or making a new one) and adding the silencer.
Don’t forget the $200 tax stamp and hassles with getting a thread on silencer, if you live in a state that allows them.
The telescoping shroud sounds cool, but you would still want the hole to be sized to the ID of the barrel, not the OD. So you would still have barrel length+ baffle length when fully collapsed. You could get a lot of volume in the tube though.
