Q:

Shroud Venting mod for Cricket

Ok, so I had a brief conversation with a guy about the Vent mod. It is hard to find and compile all threads and whatnot so can you who has written about this give me the links to this. You can also feel free to simply post whatever info you have on the subject.

Anything about quieting down the cricket is helpful, hammer slap, vent mod, other mods that makes the cricket quieter.

Thank you

Kalibrgun

I know Hoot: has experience with shroud venting, maybe he will chime in. Thanks ascarissuis for info, this is not for me but for another guy. That being said though, if there is a great guide out there somewhere on venting the kalibrgun shroud and if it is effective maybe I will do that

Ascarissus how many mps you got after you drilled those holes in the regulator spacer? Thx.
I have same experience after enlarged barrel TP to 4.4mm. I got 276mps with 130bar on regulator. With 125bar on regulator I have maximum 273mps.

I am “quiet gun” freak. There are mods that greatly reduce hammer slap and muzzle report simultaneously. But i dont think you will like them judging by how nice your gun looks “naked”.

First thing-high capacity moderator.
Stock cricket moderator is ok, but just ok.Not perfect. You need more volume for the air to expand. You can either go with longer custom moderator (which defeats the concept of short bullpup design)or get yourself an offset moderator.
Next thing:the hammer slap.

The more the spring is compressed the louder the slap.Thats obvious. But how to retain the velocity and loosen the spring tension at the same time?
What i did:
Enlarged the tp hole in the barrel from 4.1 to 4.4 mm.Gained 5-7m/s.Speed went up from 270 to 275 with spring tension unchanged. Now you have 2 options.Have more powerful cricket or just loosen up the hammer spring just a little bit.
Next thing- bigger air chamber after the regulator. It looks like that.

Profit: yet another increase in velocity without changing the spring tension.

Then i put thick insulation foam almost in every nook and cranny on the gun.Especially in the area of hammer chamber.

After all that-the final step.Putting a nice dress which also has thin 2 mm foam wrapped inbetween 2 layers of cordura.Fot extra quieting the remaining sounds getting out of my gun.

This is how i defeated the noise. Now there is only silence.Deadly silence.
